On April 12, 2019, a five-year-old boy was tossed from the third floor at Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. Emmanuel Aranda, a 24-year-old man from Minneapolis, was charged with attempted murder. in June, he was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
Background
Aranda had a history of arrests at the mall. He visited the mall one day prior to the attack with the intention to kill an adult but was unsuccessful.
Attack
On the morning of April 12, 2019, the five-year-old was thrown from the third floor balcony just outside the Rainforest Cafe and landed near the Michael Kors store. He was transported to the hospital.
Aranda fled the scene, but was arrested by the police within minutes.
