Cartoonito is the name of many European for preschoolers channels. Two of the majors are: Cartoonito Western Europe — broadcast in the Westcoast, and Cartoonito Central and Eastern Europe — broadcast in Central and Eastern Europe. Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA owns both channels.

Availability

Central and Eastern Europe

It has been suggested that Cartoonito (Central and Eastern European TV channel) be merged into this section. (Discuss) Proposed since October 2024.

Cartoonito began as programming block in 12 October 2011 targeting preschoolers. It aired weekday mornings and afternoons until 2014, when all Cartoonito programming merged into Boomerang's schedule. On 8 August 2022, it was announced that Cartoonito would be returning to Boomerang CEE as part of the brand's 2021 relaunch.

The block officially returned on 1 September 2022, airing from 8am to 2pm CEST. On 4 January 2023, it was announced that Boomerang CEE would fully rebrand into a dedicated Cartoonito channel on 18 March 2023.

After the decisions, the Czech regulator (RRTV) chose to stop airing the channel in Latvia and changed to the Scandinavian version of Cartoonito, on 17 April 2023 (officially 1 May 2023), but it has long been removed from the cable operator's register in Latvia, in December 2021, because it has not been used by any TV provider in recent years.

France

Boing once carried a Cartoonito-branded block between 3 September 2011 to 5 July 2013. In May 2021, it was announced that there were plans to relaunch Cartoonito within the region around Spring 2022, with HBO Max. On 2 February 2023, it was announced that Boing would transition to a new branding of Cartoonito on 3 April 2023.

The network programming initially was made of reruns and mostly targeting a family audience, as Boing with reruns of Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Toonami, and films. Cartoon Network's international acquisitions aired on Boing, while Cartoon Network France focuses on Cartoon Network Originals. Boing France co-produced some French shows (Zorro, the Chronicles, Chronokids, and Miss Moon) and made a mini-series: JuMo.

Italy

Main article: Cartoonito (Italy)

An Italian free-to-air television channel owned by Boing S.p.A., a joint venture of Fininvest's MFE - MediaForEurope (through its Mediaset and RTI subsidiaries) and Warner Bros. Discovery (through its International division). It is available on digital terrestrial television and free-to-air satellite provider Tivùsat.

The channel was launched on 22 August 2011 and airs preschool programs mainly sourced from Warner Bros. Discovery, in addition to acquired and local shows from other Mediaset networks or aboard.

United Kingdom and Ireland

Main article: Cartoonito (UK & Ireland)

The British/Irish pay television channel which targets children between the ages of 3 and 6. It is run by Warner Bros. Discovery under its International division. Unlike Cartoon Network and Boomerang, Cartoonito doesn't have a +1 timeshift in the UK. The channel is available in high definition on Sky Stream and Virgin Media.

Western Europe

Nordic countries

In January 2022, it was announced that a Cartoonito programming block would also come to Boomerang on 1 February 2022. Due to the channel changes from 17 April to 1 May 2023, the Czech Radio and Television Broadcasting Council also gave the green light to show the channel in Latvia.

Boomerang Nordic fully transformed into a 24/7 Cartoonito channel on 4 September 2023, along with its Turkey and MENA counterparts.

On 11 September 2024, the channel’s feed merged with Cartoonito Portugal, forming Cartoonito Western Europe.

Portugal

On 21 February 2022, Cartoonito launched as a morning and afternoon block on Boomerang. Boomerang Portugal would become a 24/7 Cartoonito channel on 23 March 2023.

On 11 September 2024, the channel’s feed merged with Cartoonito Nordic, forming Cartoonito Western Europe.
