In this Korean name, the family name is Chang.

Mr. Wook-Jin Chang has been serving as the Chief of the NGO Branch within the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), United Nations since March 2022.

With more than 25-year career as a diplomat for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Chang brings extensive experience in both multilateral and bilateral diplomacy, as well as a deep understanding of the United Nations system.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Chang held the position of Director-General for International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as Minister-Counsellor and Political Coordinator at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations. His diplomatic career includes postings at Korean embassies in Washington, D.C., Costa Rica, and Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Chang was Special Assistant and Chief of Office to the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, where he supported key initiatives and high-level engagements.

Mr. Chang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Seoul National University, South Korea, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, USA.
