Summary

DescriptionÅland vapen.svg Svenska: Ålands landskapsvapen. Från början skapat för Öland men p.g.a. ett missförstånd kom vapnet att föras av Åland istället (medan Öland förde vapnet menat för Åland). När misstaget upptäcktes på 1940-talet så valde Åland att fortsätta föra samma vapen medan Öland tog ett nytt vapen. För att undvika vidare missförstånd så är hjorten på Ölands nya vapen försedd med ett rött halsband samt har röd beväring.
Blasonering: I blått fält en gående hjort av guld. English: Coat of arms of the Finish province of Åland. Originally created for the Swedish province of Öland but due to a mistake the, then Swedish, Åland stared using it instead whilst Öland used the arms designed for Åland. Once the mistake was discovered (1940s) Öland changed their arms whilst Åland decided to keep the one they had been using. In order to avoid further confusion the arms taken by Öland features a collar and has hoofs, tongue and antlers in a different tincture.
