  • Origin: USA
  • Manufaturer: unknown
  • It was adopted by US Army in 1856 and used in the Burnside carbine during the Civil War. This was the first one-piece drawn brass military case. Bell-mouth "Foster pattern" case with wide belt at case mounth containing wax lubricant. Externally primed - perforation in base to allow ignition by a separate percussion cap.
