The 3 substrates of this enzyme are D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, phosphate, and NAD, whereas its 3 products are 3-phospho-D-glyceroyl phosphate, NADH, and H. This enzyme participates in glycolysis / gluconeogenesis.

Nomenclature

This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases, specifically those acting on the aldehyde or oxo group of donor with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is D-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate:NAD+ oxidoreductase (phosphorylating).
