Jashn is a Middle Persian and Modern Persian form of the Avestan word yasna (lit. ' worship'), which involves fire-ritual in Zoroastrianism and is akin to yajna in Hinduism. The Hindi-Urdu word Jashn (lit. 'festival') derives from this.
