The reason given is: Needs to reflect the partition of Maguindanao into Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur, which was finalised by early January 2023 and also the revival of Negros Island Region on June 11, 2024. Below is a full list of primary-level subdivisions of local government in the Philippines. As of June 11, 2024, there are 82 provincesprovince ), 33 highly urbanized citiesHUC ), 5 independent component citiesICC ), and one independent municipalityNCR municipality ). All 120 primary-level LGUs (local government units) are under general administrative supervision of the President of the Philippines.
