Kanji and clan identity

Looking through the Japanese Misplaced Pages, I find not only the 大伴氏 which is linked through this article, but also 大友氏 and 大友氏(古代). Are these related? Are they entirely separate clans? Of the people linked to in this English article, about half use 大友 in their names, and half 大伴。 So, what's the story? I apologize that I don't have any resources immediately at hand to help resolve the question myself. LordAmeth (talk) 22:52, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

If I find time, I'll take a look through the Japanese articles and try to figure out what they have to say for themselves as to the differences or relationships between the various Ootomo clans. LordAmeth (talk) 22:53, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
I agree that the article should do seperate with 大伴 and 大友.
These relation were nothing.
I know 大伴氏 clan was famous in the age of antient times that called Yamato era-Nara era(-7th Cen.) and Heian era. and Bungo Shugo-Daimyo 大友氏 Otomo clan is established by Kondoh(furusho) yoshinao (近藤(古庄)能直) in the age of Samurai called that Kamakura era(12th Cen.-). --Sotaro.Hikosaka (talk) 13:53, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Same emblem with Ryūzōji clan

On Misplaced Pages articles, Ōtomo clan and Ryūzōji clan have same clan emblems. Did they really have same emblem, or was the emblem mistakenly put on one of these clan? I would like to know. Ömer Miraç (talk) 13:07, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
