Tamralipta Mahavidyalaya, established in 1948, is one of the oldest colleges in Purba Medinipur district, West Bengal, India. It offers undergraduate courses in arts, commerce and sciences. It is affiliated to Vidyasagar University.
History
When the college opened in 1948, it was affiliated under the University of Calcutta. Later, the affiliation was shifted under Vidyasagar University.
Location
The college is located in the heart of Tamluk in the Purba Medinipur district.
Departments and courses
The college offers different undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the science, arts, and commerce branch. This college aims at imparting education to the undergraduates of lower- and middle-class people of Tamluk and its adjoining areas.
Science
The science faculty consists of the departments of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Economics, and Nutrition.
Arts and Commerce
The arts and commerce faculty consists of the departments of Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Geography, Education, Physical Education, Music, and Commerce (Accounting and Finance).
Accreditation
The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and awarded A grade.
