Also, Piper's piece, as noted by Vox, originally appeared in their "Future Perfect Newsletter," which is much more like a collection of columns than, say, an NYT news story. So I do think it is important to name her as the author of this opinion, and word it as an opinion. Also relevant is that Piper is notable enough that she even has her own Misplaced Pages article.
