Adjust wording of line about Jones disputing Stepanova's age so it is clearer that he continued to do so. Expand Jones' account of the rape episode to demonstrate how it changed, and the theories expounded by the Comte de Segur. Add Citation Needed tag for statement that Segur was then Jones' last friend in the Russian capital. undo Tag: Visual edit

  • curprev 10:1610:16, 1 September 2024 Gomeschian talk contribs 68,230 bytes −318 Move Potemkin confrontation to above section on Russian career. Separate unsourced context opening Rape section from what is supported in the citation (Evan, 2003; pages 294-6, which do not deal with the rape section introduced on pg. 298) & move it to above section. Remove details stated as facts (e.g. Stepanova age = 12) that cite Evan pg. 298, which does not give a source for claims Stepanova's story "began to fray" - see gap in notes on pg. 358).Remove undue ambiguity & rename Rape section. undo Tag: Visual edit

Move line about Catherine blocking his attempts to join other navies to after section on rape allegations (which is chronological), reword slightly for style and contextualize the exile against the usual punishments for rape per Bell. Move line about writing Liman narrative down and change invisible note to Better Source Needed tag. Add "When?" tag re: Trent investment. undo Tag: Visual edit

Bell actually describes on pgs. 39 & 40 that Lorenz (1954) is the source of the "accepted version" of the story (i.e. Jones' conspiracy allegations) for subsequent biographers who have not accessed the primary source Senior Moscow Papers. Bell writes: “Lorenz, writing in the 1950s, used his account of Jones as an indictment of the Stalinist system in Eastern Europe..." undo Tag: Visual edit

Contextualize Catherine's intercession per Bell and edit passage for grammar. undo Tag: Visual edit
