It's like saying all chainstick weapons are nunchaku, which is not true. All the short-handled tridents have slight variations to them, making them different weapons, the sai just happens to be the most famous of them. There is no reason to refer the sai to Silat when the tekpi has its own page, and is actually the weapon used in it. undo Tags: Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit Advanced mobile edit

They might be very similar, but they're still different weapons, sai being the Okinawan take on the general concept. Also did some other minor tweaking. undo Tags: Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit Advanced mobile edit

  • curprev 12:4312:43, 3 September 2024 84.246.205.232 talk 7,786 bytes −23 Edited to remove some contradictions between the introduction and history. The weapon probably didn't originate in Okinawa, but became famous following its association with Japanese-style Karate in the 20th century. I've removed a spurious reference to "ninjitsu" since there's no documented history of the weapon in Japan before its introduction from Okinawa in fairly recent history. I've added reflection on modern martial arts since many of them have absorbed the Sai into their curriculums. undo
