Sorry if this is a little long; I haven't done one of these before.

Piratesofsml was blocked last week for edit warring and disruption on Thomas Jefferson and the associated talk page (see AN/I posting on original incident.

The user then began using a series of IP addresses over several days - primarily 63.152.9.217 (talk · contribs), but also a number of dynamic AOL IPs, to continue disruption of Talk:Thomas Jefferson (in particular this section). New user User:TheDOC1958 also weighed in on the discussion, making one edit to express agreement with Piratesofsml. That account hasn't been back since, but I'm including it here for completeness's sake.

Around the same time, the IP also made a number of edits to Smith Mountain Lake. The IP resumed editing that article today, making the same reverts, and began leaving comments on Talk:George W. Bush, which were eventually removed as trolling. New account User:Smith Mountain Lake Pirates assisted the IP on both articles. Piratesofsml = User:63.152.9.217 = User:Smith Mountain Lake Pirates. Quid quo pro. Currently, User:Piratesofsml is blocked for two weeks, ending 21:19 GMT on December 22, 2006. User:Smith Mountain Lake Pirates is requesting unblocking, claiming not to be User:Piratesofsml. -- Vary | Talk 22:31, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

User:TheDOC1958 has returned, adding the text and quote to George W. Bush that sock User:Smith Mountain Lake Pirates was advocating adding to the article on the talk page before that thread was removed as trolling and the account blocked. In response to the below claims that Dos lingo is not a sock of Piratesofsml, I refer anyone who has doubts to the history page of Doberman Pinscher, particularly edits made in mid to late December of last year, which shows cooperation between Dos lingo, Piratesofsml, and the various IP addresses that have been associated with many of the sock accounts above. After looking at the Doberman Pinscher page I can see what you are saying.However I also see several other users including your self that have contributed to that article.I really don't think You are a sock puppet of Piratesofsml nor do I see any evidence that Dos lingo would be either,Best regards. Very brief blocks, for instance of one second, are sometimes used for the purpose of recording warnings or other negative events in a user's block log. This practice can be seen as humiliating, and is not approved, except for making notes that are in the user's own interest. For instance, when a wrongful block has originally been placed, a one-second block can later be added by the same admin in order to record an apology, or acknowledgement of mistake.

Caution should be exercised before blocking users who may be acting in good faith.

DUHHHHH I have racked up like 60 or so sock puppets today

Hell even pirates of sml is a sock puppet my real username I will not tell..I have over 2,000 edits and 6 articles that I created and I still use that user name.....shhhh i'll never tell what that might be... I am just messin around causing mass collateral damage..I have or admins attempting to block me have instead blocked whole states in the U.S pirates of sml

Vary,I am Dos lingo Real name David R.Lee.I do not have the foggiest why you claim that I am a sock puppet. Look at my contribs and compare them with the other users you have listed.Now let's move on to the IP.The IP is 63.3.11.2 it is not my IP. My IP is 205.188.116.201 normally, sorry to evade the block but either you or Redvers has blocked so that I can not dispute this case and according to what I have listed below,I am accorded that right. I have contacted ARIN and this is what they have told me; "Hello:

You will need to contact Misplaced Pages in this regard, to find out how they are getting this information (the IP address). They are probably not reporting the source, but perhaps reporting the last hop of the routing from your request to their server.

Vary,do you have or know any one who has AOL? If so then please do the following Change the area code to 540 and select the first of only two numbers to dial in Roanoke,VA (540 725 9801)and go to whatsmyip.org and I bet you will understand my concern after doing so. So Vary, whats the deal? Is it that Misplaced Pages assigns AOL users who Dial up from the above mentioned number? If so then that means all of Salem,Roanoke,Roanoke County,Bedford,Bedford County,all of Franklin County as well with all of Pittsylvania County.
