{{quotebox|The Divine Comedy: "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here"; don't expect a fair hearing, or justice if or when you err. Just give what you can, while you can. If you get shafted, go fishing, because your efforts will not be appreciated, whereas if you catch a fish, you can always eat it, and that's a result, even if it's only for today.}}
{{cquote|That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the globe for the moral and mutual instruction of man and improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and benevolently designed by nature when she made them like fire, expansible over all space, without lessening their density in any point, and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our physical being, incapable of confinement or exclusive appropriation. {{Jimboquote|I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative 'I heard it somewhere' pseudo information is to be tagged with a 'needs a cite' tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, '''<u>unless it can be sourced</u>'''.<ref>emphasis added for those who can't read beyond a handful of words. Please see ]</ref> This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons.|<ref>{{cite web|title="Zero information is preferred to misleading or false information"|publisher=WikiEN-l ] archive|author=Jimmy Wales|date=2006-05-16|accessdate=2006-06-11|url=http://mail.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2006-May/046440.html}}</ref>}}
{{cquote|Misplaced Pages's got everything on it, from ]s to ] - it may not always be accurate, but it's all there (], 2009)<ref>{{cite episode |title= ]|station= ]|airdate= 2009-02-04}}</ref>}}
== "In popular culture" ==
Thinking of adding a section or item? Please think carefully before doing that; is an excellent example of what we could end up with. "In popular culture" can be a lazy excuse for adding ] ] in general. Such additions at least should be sourced, and also shown to be relevant to an understanding of the topic of the article, per ] (specifically "an indiscriminate collection of information"). Too many articles tend to be dustbins for all sorts of this nonsense. An excellent example of specific advice can be found ].

== About ==
Hi, I'm a graduate of ] & ] who is interested in lots of things, which makes me useful for pub quizzes but not very employable. I've been editing here since 8th August 2007.<ref>''At present, I believe that the article "]" is an acid test of what we are trying to achieve here, and if I can take that to Good Article status, I will be happy.'' I said this some time ago, but I hope I've managed to improve it. Meanwhile, I don't have the time to concentrate on it. There are more important concerns. One day, perhaps.</ref>

==Things I have done, and do here==
*I practised law in ] from 1974 to 1982 and qualified in 1978
*I researched, wrote & published '']'' (1988)
*I sometimes write software that does things that need doing. I do ] & ]
*I have also worked on ] ] systems for the rail industry
*A ] once beat me at ], but was no match for me at ].
*My ] is a ]; a ruined temple, OK, but it's still a temple.
*"An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools." - ], '']''
*I am {{convert|5|ft|8|in|m}} high, which is sort of average, but actually makes me the tallest ] in England.<ref>I may have heard this elsewhere, but only on watching "Heroes of Comedy: ]" on TV recently did I realise where it originated; however, I make no apologies for using it, because ] almost single-handedly created modern British comedy.</ref>

|I currently have been entrusted with the following privileges: autopatrolled, reviewer, rollbacker and file mover. The only things I cannot do that I used to be able to do is to block vandals and protect pages against vandalism, neither of which have much to do with the current ArbCom case against me. As a result, it seems that this encyclopedia suffers from that failure of faith.
