::::As I said, these reasons are weak. Firstly, saying somebody might have removed a chart because it made the artist look less successful is not "casting an aspersion". An aspersion is an attack on reputation, claiming somebody did something out of bad faith. All that would be, if that were your reason, would be a silly reason, not misbehaviour. Please learn what that means before applying it to situations. "Almost always mentioned in single/album articles"—anecdotal and untrue. So what if the Norwegian charts are not in English? Sources not being in English on the English Misplaced Pages does not make them mean less, and if you continue going around saying that, somebody is inevitably going to accuse you of having xenophobic intentions, so be ''very'' careful. I'm now convinced you don't know anything about the Norwegian charts as being spread across multiple websites simply isn't true—someone don't need to visit separate websites to see the single and album pages for Norway. Topplista.no is ''one'' website, just like New Zealand has nztop40.co.nz. <b>]<small>]</small></b> 17:06, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

Please list the article at AfD

I saw your edit to the iran neighborhood. Although the rationale makes sense, it needs to be listed at WP:AfD (JayPlaysStuff | talk to me | What I've been up to) 15:44, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi JayPlaysStuff, from my experience on WP, I feel that Articles for Deletion is a venue solely for deletion, whereas redirecting an article is a separate process. Is there a guideline or rule which says that re-directing an article requires a successful nomination at AfD? That's a genuine question: I have just returned to WP from a long break that lasted about half a year, so I may be rusty on the rules in this situation. Thanks -- versacespaceleave a message! 16:19, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
Oh I see. Yeah it's likely to be uncontroversial in that case, it was not suitable for articlehood. There is Misplaced Pages:Redirects for discussion but that's for deleting or retargeting redirects, not creating ones. (JayPlaysStuff | talk to me | What I've been up to) 17:44, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
Well, the article of concern has been nominated for deletion, so I'm not worried about it anymore. To be honest, I was using this redirection as a way to get rid of the article, which I maybe shouldn't have done, but I'm sure you understand what my angle was. :) -- versacespaceleave a message! 17:52, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

Dimensions of cover artworks

Hi VersaceSpace. I've noticed you've uploaded recent artworks at uneven dimensions and with format(s) in the file name (Superache I just came across, and then noticed you expanded the redirect I made for I Just Called). Just to let you know, a square 300×300 and PNG file format is preferred for album and single artworks. Per Template:Infobox album, 300px is a "common choice for square album covers" (emphasis added). I don't know where you got the uneven covers from (and the .jpg.webp file name is a bit confusing), but Apple Music, Spotify and so on provide square covers (Apple Music has their covers in both WEBP and PNG—the latter if you change the extension in the URL). As these covers were digital artworks and not from the era of slightly more rectangular CDs (or only released in that format and then adapted for the digital era), even dimensioned digital artworks are preferable. Also, if you get the high-quality artworks from Apple Music, there's definitely less chance somebody would notice the cover is a bit off square and replace it. Thanks. Ss112 06:19, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

Ss112, I was completely unaware that the cover I added had the incorrect dimensions, so thanks for letting me know about that. I'm pretty sure I got that pic from some blog, which in hindsight wasn't a great idea. If it's not yet replaced, I'll definitely go fix that. In the future I'll take album/single cover arts from Apple Music. versacespaceleave a message! 06:28, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Diligence
For making my proposed deletion patrolling more interesting with your concise and astute observations. SailingInABathTub (talk) 23:06, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
@SailingInABathTub: thank you! I've always wondered why deleting articles made without effort is so much harder than creating them. The bar for notability is so low, and yet we still have articles on towns called "Water Distribution Company" and "Iran Engineerging Company" (← can you believe that's a blue link?). I can't say this hasn't been entertaining though. --VersaceSpace 🌃 23:17, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Proposed deletions

Hello, VersaceSpace,

First, I want to thank you for your contributions to the project! Second, I was looking at upcoming PRODS and Category:Proposed deletion as of 28 June 2022 has over 100 PRODs for the day which is much more than our typical number of 10-40 PRODs/day. I see at least 37 that you tagged and I just wanted to encourage you to please not go on a mass-tagging spree over a short period of time.

Right now, there are typically two admins who patrol Proposed deletions daily and review tagged articles and files to make sure the tagging is appropriate and we both juggle other activities we do on the project. There is no reason you couldn't tag 5-12 articles/day instead of packing them all into one day. I know editors get on a roll with a big project you take on but please remember down the road, some admin will need to check your work and follow through on the taggings so if you could pace yourself with any kind of deletion taggings (CSDs, PRODs, XfDs), well, we would appreciate it. I wish there were more admins who were active in different areas of the project but as it is, we're spread a little thin these days and we all have our specific areas we tend to focus on. Thanks again for all of your work. It's appreciated! Liz 19:15, 29 June 2022 (UTC)

@Liz: thank you. I'll limit the PRODs and instead probably take the matter to the AN where it can be handled (hopefully) more efficiently. --VersaceSpace 🌃 19:24, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
Oh, also, one more thing, VersaceSpace. I'm a HUGE advocate of posting notifications for editors when you tag one of their article creations for deletion, I think almost 50% of my edits are notices to editor talk pages. However, Carlossuarez46 hasn't been active for over a year and, at this point, is unlikely to return. Hundreds of his articles have been tagged for deletion as PRODs and those editors who've undertaken cleaning out some of his lesser contributions either do not post a notice on his talk page or just post a general notice stating they have tagged some of his page creations instead of posting one for each individual article. There definitely doesn't need to be dozens or hundreds of PROD notices on this talk page, it's overwhelming. So, just skip the notices for this editor right now. Thanks. Liz 00:23, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you Liz, I've been leaving the "notify editor" box on twinkle unchecked. --VersaceSpace 🌃 13:51, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

WikiCup 2022 July newsletter

The third round of the 2022 WikiCup has now come to an end. Each of the sixteen contestants who made it into the fourth round had at least 180 points, which is a lower figure than last year when 294 points were needed to progress to round 4. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose, with 746 points, a tally built both on snooker and other sports topics, and on more general subjects.
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, with 683 points, garnered mostly from "In the news" items and related DYKs.
  • Sammi Brie, with 527, from a variety of submissions related to radio and television stations.

Between them contestants achieved 5 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 51 good articles, 149 DYK entries, 68 ITN entries, and 109 good article reviews. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Misplaced Pages policies, regardless of the review process.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article nomination, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. BRUH OMG CONGRATS,,, This is perhaps one of the most notable and iconic songs to come out of the 2020s, in part due to its literal chokehold on certain conservatives... like Ben Sha-P-Word. Elias, thank you so much! FA next ;). Never done it before WAP seems like the type of article that should be a featured article. --VersaceSpace 🌃 01:45, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
It does! The article's looking pretty comprehensive on all major aspects of the topic, though I would suggest running it through the Guild of Copyeditors to weed out possible typos and awkward sentences, then through a peer review to prepare it for FAC. One thing that immediately came to mind as I skimmed the article: they're pretty nitpicky/insistent on the sources being "high-quality", so I'd recommend minimising the Twitter/Insta sources wherever possible.
Good luuuuuck with this, I know you can do it! We desperately need more pop music FAs; god bless whoever worked on all the 1989 articles. ‍ ‍ elias. 🧣 ‍

About your rejection of Draft:Prima- class Cruise ship

As the class is now named and no longer known by the code name I pasted the text from Project Leonardo into the draft so the text has already been approved by someone. History Buff1239ubj (talk) 14:09, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

@History Buff1239ubj: I don't really have to know about all that. After reading your draft, I still had no idea what the subject was, which is why I declined it. After reading an article, I should have at least a basic understanding of the topic, readers need "context". --VersaceSpace 🌃 14:12, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you I just thought that it would be approved as it is text pasted from an existing article. Could you improve it please? History Buff1239ubj (talk) 14:16, 11 July 2022 (UTC)

Request on 02:47:01, 12 July 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Mandrakito

Hi, I really appreciate your suggestions in order to improve my draft. I am not familiar with the WikiEditor and I'll work hard to make it better. I disagree with your remark "Railways in Cuba?", because, in 1958 Cuba had more railway trackage per square mile than any other country. Yes, there is a Misplaced Pages article covering railways in Cuba under the title: "Ferrocarriles de Cuba", but it is very badly written and plagued with errors and inaccuracies. The purpose of my article was to serve as a complement to the one already published and fill in the gap left by not mentioning the aggressive program of dieselization carried out by "Ferrocarriles Occidentales de Cuba S.A. sincerely, --Mandrakito (talk) 02:47, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

@Mandrakito: I have no strong opinions. You should seek the guidance of a Misplaced Pages user who knows about this kind of thing, but I'm confident that it's adequately covered somewhere in Misplaced Pages. —VersaceSpace 🌃 01:21, 13 July 2022 (UTC)

Removing columns from chart wikitables with no substitute

"Not an especially important music market". Perhaps not, but you kept New Zealand there and Norway has a larger population than NZ. Unless you have a reliable chart substitute where the artist performed better, maybe try not to make removals like this in future. Size of a music market is not the only factor we take into consideration when weighing what to include in chart wikitables—the relative success of the artist there also matters. Making the top 40 with two albums is pretty successful with all things considered, considering how many albums are released every week in the world and most never make it to the charts. I think you only removed Norway because Superache had not charted there yet and you wanted the table to only include countries where Gray made an appearance with both albums. Well, as I just pointed out, Superache charted in Norway this week, so if that was your real concern, it's no longer an issue. Thank you. Ss112 15:07, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

Norway has the bigger population, but only by a couple hundred thousand. New Zealand's music market is definitely more focused and notable. —VersaceSpace 🌃 15:19, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
"Focused and notable"? What does that even mean? Sounds like a strange opinion not based in fact. This looked like a removal because "oh no, it makes Conan Gray look slightly less successful because his second album didn't chart in one country". I've seen this sort of edit hundreds of times. Please substitute a chart in future or find more compelling reasons. Ss112 15:42, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
I looked at my edit summary and (to me at least), it's very clear that I was talking about importance in relation to Gray, especially with the added second sentence. Your re-addition is fine, because now his importance in that market is fine, but I really do not understand why you must cast aspersions about my intentions. I have not even looked at that page since I made that edit, and I haven't looked at Superache (which i created) since the album's release date. —VersaceSpace 🌃 16:06, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
And it's not really a strange opinion either when New Zealand is almost always mentioned in single/album articles while Norway gets nothing beyond a table nod. The Norwegian charts are not even in english, and they're spread across several websites. So yeah, focused. And based in fact. —VersaceSpace 🌃 16:11, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
As I said, these reasons are weak. As for "your re-addition is fine", thanks for giving me your seal of approval, but even if you weren't fine with it, your bold removal was reverted, so you'd have to deal with it and take it to the article talk page per WP:BRD. "Almost always mentioned in single/album articles"—anecdotal and untrue. So what if the Norwegian charts are not in English? Sources not being in English on the English Misplaced Pages does not make them mean less, and if you continue going around saying that, somebody is inevitably going to accuse you of having xenophobic intentions, so be very careful. I'm now convinced you don't know anything about the Norwegian charts as being spread across multiple websites simply isn't true—someone don't need to visit separate websites to see the single and album pages for Norway.
