The road's designation was a temporary one, applied to a new highway that was being built between ] and ] in ]. Construction began in 1982 at the Atikokan (southern) end of the proposed routing. In 1986, construction crews began on the Ignace (northern) part of the road, working their way south from ]. ], the north and south portions of Highway 807 were linked. The road was officially opened to traffic in September 1989, nad renumbered from Highway 807 to Highway 622. | |||
