Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Sesame Street (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi. I'm an admin, but I want some extra opinion. Someone suggested on the talk page of the article that Sesame Street be semi-protected. The article is a frequent target of vandals, simply because of it's topic. -- Zanimum 18:07, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

    Winston Churchill (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protect. This page is a high level target of vandalism by IP users. It recieves about half a dozen attempts at vandalism per day. I requested the page be protected over three weeks ago, but it was unprotected after only three days and the vandalism has picked up heavily every day since. Its getting far too difficult to revert. The vandalism is generally extremely offensive and is by multiple users. Its a persistant problem because of its high visibility and importance. I would ask that this be semi protected for a long period of time as its similar to the George W Bush article in the large amount of IP users that visit. IP vandalism continuous, would like to request indefinate protection. LordHarris 16:40, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

    Geo Tracker (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect. Is under attack by a persistent vandal using a proxy server who keeps removing images from the article. Has had other vandalism recently as well. No constructive IP edits in the past month.--Sable232 16:30, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

National Council of La Raza (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect. Continous IP vandalism. --evrik  16:07, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't even see where that qualifies as vandalism, it looks like a content dispute evrik ought to take to the page's talk page instead of playing games reverting. One Elephant went out to play... 19:31, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

    Aurangzeb (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Full Protection. Long term edit-warring by single purpose account holders. Repeated deletion of sourced info and insertion of propaganda. Very contentious article and honey-pot for trolls. Dutybirds 16:09, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

    Muhajir Urdu (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect. Continous IP and users vandalism. Some IP users are constantly vandalizing the article. The sub-sections related to demographics, political ideology and culture r constantly attacked. People who have negative views towards Muhajir Urdu are leaving no stone unturned to vandalize this article. So plz give it semi protection at least. Realton 15:34, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

There is not enough recent activity to justify protection at this time. Just watchlist and revert any vandalism. Nishkid64 15:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

    Barbie (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect. Almost as soon as the page was unprotected, the old problem of schoolchildren and IP vandals adding obscene nonsense reappeared. To be fair to serious readers of the page, this kind of thing has to be prevented. Semi-protection does not prevent any reasonable person from editing the article, but it does prevent gross and repeated abuse by school IP computers. Also, a high edit count leads to a lot of extra work if 80-90% of it is IP vandalism.--Ianmacm 15:19, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Organization XIII (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I do not see the justification for full-protection, as the recent "revert war" was just a persistent vandal. Semi-protection at least, if you honestly feel the need. ' 00:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

The revert war was between you and Majiex (talk · contribs). Semi-protection will do nothing in preventing this user from continuing the edit war. Get to the article talk page to make him understand why the official source should be used. Nishkid64 15:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Maybe if the user actually stuck around longer than this drive-by vandalism editing spree. Protecting on the basis of this "revert war" (I was hardly the only person to revert the guy, by the by) is an extreme knee-jerk reaction and only makes it difficult for people to improve the page. ' 16:52, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

    Template:Subst (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Page does not appear to qualify under any rationale for indefinite protection, and is not listed at Misplaced Pages:List of indefinitely protected pages. As a user talk warning, this template should be substed when used anyway (contrary to what its documentation currently says). Random832 17:19, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Template:Coor (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

I would like to request edits to Template:Coor, Template:Coor d, Template:Coor dm, Template:Coor dms, Template:Coor at d, Template:Coor at dm, and Template:Coor at dms. I would like span titles added to help point out the usefulness of the links. There is a detailed explanation with the code for exactly what I would like edited at Template talk:Coor URL#Span title. As I have provided the code and directions, experience with templates isn't required, but it would help understand exactly what I am proposing.Mr.Z-mantalk¢Review! 00:50, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

    Template:Metal_Gear_series (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

I am proposing the protected template be edited to include MGS4 as per discussion and concensus on the talk page. Suggesting a revert to version number 112130831. I beleive that majority should decide the content for now until a resolution is reached on the talk page. --Cmsjustin 17:26, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Do all parties agree to this change? – Steel 19:33, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Consensus for the template is being held back by a single user who appears to be avoiding the dispute and discussion has slowed to a crawl. The parties that agreed to the change believe that having the protected template changed to the more popular suggestion (again, all but one user) will encourage more discussion. In short, we believe that the user might be deliberately not engaging in discussion since the template is locked in their favor. -th1rt3en 20:20, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps this could be brought up on WT:CVG. Failing that, there are various channels for dispute resolution. – Steel 20:28, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, this is the second time that the template was locked due to edit warring, and both times it's been locked in AMiB's favor. Now we've been trying to discuss the change, but AMiB has seemingly disengaged from the discussion. If the template were unlocked, the edit war would most likely resume, so we're suggesting that the template be changed to encourage discussion, not to simply change it for what the majority wants it to be. That said, if the page is changed and the majority slows discussion the same way, it could easily be changed back. The dispute is over AMiB's constant enforcement of a disputed guideline, which itself is not in consensus. -th1rt3en 20:45, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Buffalo, New York (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect - The third paragraph of the article has been consistently and constantly deleted by a number of anon editors over the last several days. No justification for the deletion has ever been given, even though attempts were made to discuss the changes with one anon user. Most of the IPs have been warned, and one has been blocked for a day. It has been incredibly frustrating to members of the New York Wikiproject, who have spent the last few days continusously undoing these nonsensical deletions. Full-Protection The Lake Park High School page is becoming a battle ground for vandalism and spam. People often change the "Notable Alumni" and "Club" sections and add things that have no truth or meaning. As an atendee of this school, I would appreciate it greatly if this was put to a stop once and for all. I have attempted to police it myself (without an account), but it has not worked.
