Bartilson and Scientology

Lynsey has been a member of the Church of Scientology since childhood, growing up in a Scientologist family. Her mother (and manager) is Scientology attorney Laurie Bartilson, former partner of Kendrick Moxon. Lynsey describes her involvement with Scientology thusly:

"When I did my first service at the Church it was then called the Children's Communication Course. I was not sure what it would be like. After the first day I came home happier than I'd ever been. It wasn't like a book telling me what I should do. It was people helping me find a way to improve MY life, the way I wanted it to go. I will never forget that day! Wow, it blew me away! One time I was filming a movie called, Mrs. Santa Clause with Angela Lansbury. She was in the middle of a big emotional scene with me and a fly fell on my nose during a take. I just kept going and didn't worry about it. If I had started laughing or something it would have been awful, because everyone was very uptight and nervous. Scientology helped me to be able to confront ANY situation."

Bartilson is active in a number of Scientology-related organizations, such as Youth for Human Rights International. In October 2004 she was the Mistress of Ceremonies for the first annual "Youth for Human Rights Day International" in Los Angeles, appearing onstage with Leisa Goodman and other prominent Scientologists.
