== Rainbow Bridge ==

I made a mistake when I removed the content of Rainbow Bridge without giving a valid reason on "edit summary". In this case there is no include a citation. We both know wikipedia is not only about "reliable sources". Neutral point of view (NPOV) is a standard that all editors should follow. Lets be clear here: the fact is Rainbow Bridge is a posthumous album by Hendrix. Is it a compilation? Depending on the definition of "compilation" it might be, but unless we are talking about typical compilations, (like Greatest Hits, The Best Of, Smash Hits in Hendrix's case) those definitions are usually vague and arbitrary. For example, the Rainbow Bridge article quotes a book to support that Rainbow Bridge is a compilation. If we look at the source, the writer is asserting tha despite the effort to create an album that worked as a unit, there is a wide range of dates, sessions and involve multiple band lineups, so it is "almost like a greatest hits album", and the release was to "milk as much money as possible". As we can see this is his opinion about the subject. His definition of compilation is vague an arbitrary. Based in this guidelines many "studio" albums released during past 60 years would fall under the "compilation" category. For example, we can't put "this is the best Jimi Hendrix album ever" on an "Electric Ladyland" article, even if we quote 50 books wrote by people who think thats the best Hendrix album, because thats against the NPOV standard. Also, an article must be precise and explicit and clear, to avoid ambiguity, misunderstanding and to be free of vague generalities and half-truths. "Compilation" for many people mean albums that are officially intended to be viewed as such, like Greatest Hits as I mentioned before, or compilation of "never seen before" material, like Hendrix's purple box set or West Coat Seattle Boy, so putting the album is that category create a lot of confusion, specially because Rainbow Bridge was not released as an compilation, but as an "official soundtrack album" consisted by songs never released before. We should also note that many albums by other artists with the same core idea didn't receive the "compilation" tag here on wikipedia. For example, Bob Dylan's Basement Tapes is an album with stuff that were recorded between 1967 and 1968, and were overdubbed in 1975 and released that year, and it's considered a "Bob Dylan's studio album". If someone want to bring the "compilation/not compilation" discussion into the article, thats okay, but that must be in the middle of the article, with a specific sessions to discuss that, and it must follow NPOV guidelines. Thats it. "Rainbow Bridge is a compilation album by Jimi Hendrix" is the right way to describe that album here on wikipedia. <!-- Template:Unsigned --><small class="autosigned">—&nbsp;Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 16:56, 7 July 2020 (UTC)</small> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

:Dear ],

:I have reverted your edit mainly as it removed the type parameter from the infobox and you have not included an edit summary. Since "posthumous" is not a valid type in the infobox (see ]), I presume that the original editor has chosen the "compilation" tag, but from your argumentation I understand that "studio" seems to be a more descriptive type, but I personally am not an expert on Jimi Hendrix, so I think that this discussion should be moved to the ], where other editors with more knowledge can discuss this, if required. I will not revert your change and let other editors weigh in, just note that an infobox album without a "type" parameter is invalid and is inserted into a maintenance category.

:Happy editing,

Hi. Just wanted to let you know as you don't appear to, there is no reason to include and especially not to reinsert the venue= parameter in ] for studio albums. We don't need to include every parameter that's part of a template unless it provides an error to not have it. I also see you reinserted the format parameter on a few song articles; this was recently deleted from the template after a discussion, so shouldn't be re-added. Also, stub templates are placed at the very end of an article, after everything else, including the categories; ] covers this. Thanks. <b>]<small>]</small></b> 14:10, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi,
About 7 months ago you edited an article on Kane Mitchell Wafl footballer on Misplaced Pages.

I really like the way this article has been set out with an AFL template.
I have submitted an article on Jye Bolton who is now also a Wafl footballer.
His article was just accepted to Misplaced Pages but I would like to set it up exactly like the one you edited.

Would you be able to assist me in setting this out!
I’m finding it very difficult.
Thanks so much!

About German Death Camps

Hello,

what kind of source you would like to have - don't you know history - there is no Nazi land - only Germany, so there were German Death Camps, not Nazi Death camps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.95.144.247 (talk) 15:43, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Hello,
You were changing a wiki link to another page, namely Nazi Germany. As this is the title of the page, I would assume that this name should be consistent throughout the whole Misplaced Pages and therefore also in that article. If you have any more questions, please contact the corresponding WP-Project or the talk page of the article. --TheFrog001 (talk) 19:10, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

"DREAM ACT unconstructive"

I was simply fixing an error. There is so such thing as "undocumented immigrants" in United States law. They are referred to as "illegal aliens". This is a fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.20.68.96 (talk) 28 February 2017, 18:27:24‎

Dear 47.20.68.96,
If what you claim were a "fact", you surely wouldn't find any document in Congress' document search containing the words "undocumented immigrants". During my research, I found 749 hits when searching for those words. You can even see for yourself here. It is important to question things you encounter on the Misplaced Pages, but please, check your sources before you edit and name them in your edits.

Type in infobox album

Thanks for catching these. As you'll have gathered, I'm doing fixes to the infobox and clearing junk entries from the Type field. When I get to the end, I'm planning on getting some code added to the template to create a category that shows all of the articles where Type has no value next to it. - X201 (talk) 09:48, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Website address for an author

When I go to Misplaced Pages and check an author on Misplaced Pages, I want to know if there is a website associated with the author.

That is why I added a website for Peter Driscoll. Why is it not allowed to include an author website?

(Btw, I am vangogan, who started this Peter Driscoll author page.)

p.s. Also, there is a book of his, Heritage, which when you click it, goes NOT to the author's book, but a totally different page about Dr. Who. That link needs to be taken away. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.147.225.17 (talk) 18:57, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

Dear 75.147.225.17,

WikiProject Investment

Hey there! I just re-launched the WikiProject Investment.

Feel free to check out the project and ping me if you have any questions.

I'd like to invite you to join the Investment WikiProject. There are a lot of Investment related articles on Misplaced Pages that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help get this project off the ground and a few Investment pages into the front ranks of Misplaced Pages articles. Thanks!

Spelling-correction in incorrect context

Thanks for GNOMEing the capitalization of "YouTube". One nit: in this edit, you changed it in a URL, not just in English prose. I don't know what criteria you are using to find places to fix it, but might want to double-check manually that it's not hitting computer/technical contexts. Hi TheFrog001. For some reason the non-free file File:Batelco.blocked.png is being flagged as a WP:NFCC#9/WP:UP#Non-free files violation in User:TheFrog001/JWB-settings.js. The page is protected so I cannot look to see where the file is, but aCntrl-F search shows the code for the file is used in that particular page. Anyway, perhaps you can tweak the syntax, so the file doesn't get flagged as WP:NFCCP vio any more. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:26, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

NPOV Confederate Memorials

Hi TheFrog001, I am not trying to present my views but the facts. If someone commits a murder like Dylann Roof and James Fields did I want the facts documented. If someone illegally pulls down a statue I want the facts documented. It does not matter to me whether they are on the Right or the Left if they are committing a criminal act. Yes the Murders are a more serious crime than a riot/vandalism, but society needs call a duck a duck in all forms of media, including wikipedia.

Personally I am well read on the Civil War Era battles, campaigns, causes (yes slavery was the main cause)etc. I am a centrist who deals with facts not ideology. As a result I end up arguing with those on the far right and far left who cannot learn from historical facts and understand the context of the time around those facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.220.157.243 (talk) 08:28, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Infobox song parameters

Please note that Template:Infobox song makes more use of class=plainlist and class=hlist than Template:Infobox album. Adding other list templates or <br/> is unnecessary and may cause WP:ACCESS problems. This is explained in the template documentation for the individual parameters. Also, adding empty |prev_title=, etc., is unnecessary for songs, since it is only used for those released as singles. The substitution trick is sometimes helpful for cleaning up templates. —Ojorojo (talk) 17:04, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

IRT Pelham Line

Well, the original idea of the Second Avenue Line is to relieve the amount of lines currently running on same. The original plan of severing the IRT Pelham Bay Line, which was built to Dual-Contracts specifications, and sending it down the Second Avenue line would unclog the Lexington Avenue Line, and you would also free up much needed space for improved service's from the White Plains Road, and the Woodlawn Line, since the Pelham bay Line trains would essentially be out of the way running down Second Avenue instead. Do you see the logic of this plan ????

The IRT Lexington Avenue Line currently has the White Plains Road, Woodlawn, Dyre Avenue, and the Pelham Bay & Parkchester Lines causing this Lexington Avenue Line to turn into a very badly clogged artery, and with severe overcrowding for same.

I hope this helps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2000:6000:C400:D0B7:A43B:98BE:54BD (talk) 08:40, 3 June 2018 (UTC)

Gedium (talk) 07:37, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
No. 1 is a link to a webpage with user-generated content without any editorial oversight, which surely isn't reliable. No. 2 & 3 are wikilinks, which contain per definition user-generated content. But, as I said above, please keep to the talk page of the article for further discussion of the topic.

I wish instead of removing something, to instead edit to add in the correct info.

Removing instead of helping info along to me is not constructive (and feels a little toxic tbh) and to create better info, it's good to propose something better! Just a suggestion, but if that doesn't happen - it's ok. People don't always have good ideas all of the time - and I see you try hard. Just hoping for a collaborative world, but I do understand that it's not always possible or ideal too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hawaiisunfun (talkcontribs) 05:28, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

Hey, I saw that you’re editing the Bulgaria’s page related to coronavirus pandemic but the idea of map with dots on it sucks since most of countries are using regions colored on map related to the infection or number of infections per region, the cities became too much and dots on map seems very unprofessional — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justalexdjabarski (talkcontribs) 12:12, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

Comment by 128.0.244.200

Hi, this is in response to you reverting my edit on the page "2020 coronavirus pandemic in Northern Cyprus". I believe it has to be noted on the page that the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is an illegal entity. You cannot say it is officially the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It is only recognized by Turkey. The UN does not recognize it. This has to be said somewhere on the page. If the way I said it is not "constructive" like you said, please make the appropriate edit yourself to show this. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.0.244.200 (talk) 10:33, 21 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi,
I have reverted your contribution as it introduced vague language to an article. As per WP:WIKIVOICE and WP:NPOVHOW,
"Prefer nonjudgmental language. A neutral point of view neither sympathizes with nor disparages its subject (or what reliable sources say about the subject), although this must sometimes be balanced against clarity. Present opinions and conflicting findings in a disinterested tone. Do not editorialize. When editorial bias towards one particular point of view can be detected the article needs to be fixed."
If you think that the article has "editorial bias", please raise it on the talk page of the article, so that other editors can discuss this with you.

Philippe De Backer

Dear TheFrog001

I saw that you removed my change in the introduction of the Misplaced Pages of Philippe De Backer. I changed 'Secretary of State' to 'Secretary of State for Social Fraud, Privacy and the North Sea.' I did this to prevent confusion for any American readers. In the Belgian Goverment, a Secretary of State (staatssecretaris) is essentialy a Deputy Minister, whereas the U.S. Secretary of State is essentialy the Minister of Foreign Affairs. In Belgium, the Minister of Foreing Affairs was Didier Reynders in the Michel I-administration. Thus, in order to prevent confusion for American readers, I added further specification to his title, so that they wouldn't think that Philippe De Backer was the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Sincerely,

Lucas — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:1810:3E94:B100:D8ED:38B0:9E0D:3C04 (talk) 17:29, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Editing news 2020 #3

On 16 March 2020, the 50 millionth edit was made using the visual editor on desktop.

Seven years ago this week, the Editing team made the visual editor available by default to all logged-in editors using the desktop site at the English Misplaced Pages. Here's what happened since its introduction:

  • The 50 millionth edit using the visual editor on desktop was made this year. More than 10 million edits have been made here at the English Misplaced Pages.
  • More than 2 million new articles have been created in the visual editor. More than 600,000 of these new articles were created during 2019.

Rainbow Bridge

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Valverde.pr (talkcontribs) 16:56, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Dear Valverde.pr,
I have reverted your edit mainly as it removed the type parameter from the infobox and you have not included an edit summary. Since "posthumous" is not a valid type in the infobox (see Template:Infobox album#type), I presume that the original editor has chosen the "compilation" tag, but from your argumentation I understand that "studio" seems to be a more descriptive type, but I personally am not an expert on Jimi Hendrix, so I think that this discussion should be moved to the talk page of the article, where other editors with more knowledge can discuss this, if required. I will not revert your change and let other editors weigh in, just note that an infobox album without a "type" parameter is invalid and is inserted into a maintenance category.
Happy editing,

Reply tool

The number of comments posted with the Reply Tool from March through June 2020. People used the Reply Tool to post over 7,400 comments with the tool.

The Reply tool has been available as a Beta Feature at the Arabic, Dutch, French and Hungarian Wikipedias since 31 March 2020. The first analysis showed positive results.

  • More than 300 editors used the Reply tool at these four Wikipedias. They posted more than 7,400 replies during the study period.
  • Of the people who posted a comment with the Reply tool, about 70% of them used the tool multiple times. About 60% of them used it on multiple days.
  • Comments from Misplaced Pages editors are positive. ("I think the tool has a significant impact; it saves time to reply while the classic way is to move with a mouse to the Edit link to edit the section or the page which is generally far away from the comment. And the user reaches to the edit box so quickly to use the Reply tool.")

The Editing team released the Reply tool as a Beta Feature at eight other Wikipedias in early August. Those Wikipedias are in the Chinese, Czech, Georgian, Serbian, Sorani Kurdish, Swedish, Catalan, and Korean languages. If you would like to use the Reply tool at your wiki, please tell User talk:Whatamidoing (WMF).

The Reply tool is still in active development. Per request from the Dutch Misplaced Pages and other editors, you will be able to customize the edit summary. (The default edit summary is "Reply".) A "ping" feature is available in the Reply tool's visual editing mode. This feature searches for usernames. Per request from the Arabic Misplaced Pages, each wiki will be able to set its own preferred symbol for pinging editors. Per request from editors at the Japanese and Hungarian Wikipedias, each wiki can define a preferred signature prefix in the page MediaWiki:Discussiontools-signature-prefix. For example, some languages omit spaces before signatures. Other communities want to add a dash or a non-breaking space.

New requirements for user signatures

  • The new requirements for custom user signatures began on 6 July 2020. If you try to create a custom signature that does not meet the requirements, you will get an error message.
  • Existing custom signatures that do not meet the new requirements will be unaffected temporarily. Eventually, all custom signatures will need to meet the new requirements. You can check your signature and see lists of active editors whose custom signatures need to be corrected. Volunteers have been contacting editors who need to change their custom signatures. If you need to change your custom signature, then please read the help page.

Next: New discussion tool

Next, the team will be working on a tool for quickly and easily starting a new discussion section to a talk page. To follow the development of this new tool, please put the New Discussion Tool project page on your watchlist.

Retrofuture (album)

Hi. Just wanted to let you know as you don't appear to, there is no reason to include and especially not to reinsert the venue= parameter in Template:Infobox album for studio albums. We don't need to include every parameter that's part of a template unless it provides an error to not have it. I also see you reinserted the format parameter on a few song articles; this was recently deleted from the template after a discussion, so shouldn't be re-added. Also, stub templates are placed at the very end of an article, after everything else, including the categories; Template:Stub covers this. Thanks. Ss112 14:10, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Dear User:Ss112,
Thank you for bringing this up. I use the subst: feature to make spacing nicer and remove unused parameters, and it seems that they reinsert these parameters. I will restrict my use of it until it is fixed.
All the best,

Misplaced Pages Editing

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/Kane_Mitchell Hi, About 7 months ago you edited an article on Kane Mitchell Wafl footballer on Misplaced Pages.

Here is the link for you to look at
