The game takes place between the fourth (]) fifth (]) seasons of the ] TV show. The game also serves as the third ] videogame.

A month earlier, LEGO Ninjago: Tournament came out for iOS and Android which revolves around the fourth season of the show. Ronin appeared as a boss in the game. He was also the only boss in the game which wasn't playable.

== Gameplay ==
The story starts off with Ronin stealing the ninjas' memories. The ninjas now have to smash, build and explore their way through a daring adventure and stop Ronin's evil plans for good! The main antagonist is Ronin while the Dark Samurai serve as the evil clique of the game.

The player controls one of the main characters from a third-person perspective, primarily fighting enemies, solving puzzles, and collecting LEGO 'studs', the game's form of currency. There are a total of 68 playable characters in the game (excluding multiple variants/outfits of all characters).
