:::Aaah, the cute Y Chromosome, such a good marker of invasions, population changes, founding effects and shared origins. Nice to see that WASPs and Mexicans use to share the ''Western European'' R1b Y-ADN haplogroup. The former because of the Thirteen Colonies. The latter because of the handsome and virile Spanish Conquistadors. — Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 11:37, 21 July 2022 (UTC) |

==Proper classification: Hispanic as a cultural heritage is more accurate== |
|
|
An ethonym doesn't sound right. Since we mention the US' definition, we need to classify it with a term that's just as vague and broad as their definition and includes all kinds of people--not just those of certain ethnicities like 'ethnonym' means. Ties to a Spanish-speaking country (with ties meaning anything like lineage, birth, culture, and language to name a few) doesn't describe an ethnonym because it doesn't group ethnicities. Classifying 'Hispanic' as a cultural heritage or lingual heritage better suits the US definition. — Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 19:45, 21 June 2015 (UTC) |

A list of this is already on the ] article. Notably, I am also questioning the relevance of the ethnic/racial demographics included in the section. Some parts like the whole FS of Micronesia stuff is even less relevant and belongs in an article covering the influence of the Spanish Empire or whatever. As a reminder, the article is supposed to address "people, cultures, or countries" dealt with by the term "Hispanic". |

to use the word precedence case basic to the United States I would like to know: which words corresponding to Hispanic do exist? ] (]) 22:11, 11 March 2024 (UTC) |
Because they belonged to the Spanish Empire about the same time most Spanish American colonies did, and following Anglo's logic, they should be called Hispanics as well.
