== Early Piping Training ==

Rod learned his piping in his early teens, under the Pipe Master Jock Campbell in Scarborough Ontario, Canada. He was in a boy’s pipe band that progressed to be one of the best bands in the Highland Games in Ontario, Quebec and the northern states of America. He was a lovely friend of the Drum Major, George White, his wife Mae and family He was also welcome at our house, my brother Rob was also in the band with Rod. They practiced at the Scarborough Rec Centre at Warden and Ellesmere. We travelled with them to competitions, Fergus, Kingston, Kincardin,Maxwell,Alma NY,any weekend Games for the support of the band and the boys. Jock was a Master Piper from Scotland and my father was a locally taught piper from Toronto who believed in the boys, so he gave his help in teaching Rod was very accomplished, with many awards in competitions, as we’re all band members with their piers who were their elders Rod was always polite and curtious to all. The persona that he displayed , I believe is what he wanted to put out as hi act, not who he truly was God Bless You Rod, love Nance ] (]) 11:25, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
I moved the page from Rodderick Toombs to Roderick Toombs; among other sources, Roddy's 2002 biography gives the correct spelling as "Roderick". --] 22:28, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Why not just Roddy Piper? Naming Conventions say to use the most common name. There doesn't seem to be any reason to use his real name.--] 03:33, May 20, 2005 (UTC)

==Requested move==

Toombs is best known as Roddy Piper, and he seems to own the trademark, so there's no chance he'll stop using the name anytime soon (unlike many wrestlers). Therefore, there's no reason to keep this page at its current location.

== WCW career ==

There is hardly any information regarding his time in WCW other than the year he was signed and the year he was released. Anybody care to fill the gaps? ] 04:53, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

I have done so. There is a lot storyline wise from 98/99 that I left out, but the basics are covered. ] 19:11, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

== Family ==

Does anyone know the names of his children? I know that he has a son named Colton and a daughter named Fallon Danica. Doesn't he have a daughter named Ariel that recntly gave birth to Roddy's first grandchild?
Roddy son is Colt, Dau. Fallon Danica,dau. Ariel Tiel and dau. Anastacia mother of his grandchild. rpipergirl] 02:30, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

This should be stated on his page with verification. Thanks for the info. (] 18:02, 16 July 2007 (UTC)).

==Vitalstatistics==
I don't think Piper is as tall as 6'2".(] 07:43, 2 June 2006 (UTC))

Vince is 6 ft 2 in, looking at this pic
http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/pictures/r/roddypiper/40.jpg
I'd say Piper is nearing 6 ft. What do others think?(] 14:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC))

I don't know what the deal is with that picture but I was just watching the first Piper's Pit where Piper came back to the WWE and I noted that Piper was actually taller than Vince. If I can find a clear picture showing this I'll link to it. ] 05:43, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Piper is 6'1 1/2" he has stated on a number of ocations user: rpipergirl

== Complaint ==

I've read some Pro-Wrestling pages and this one seems to be one of the most "Pro"Pro wrestling, meaning, it reads like the author believes that it's real. Can someone do something about all these pages?
SRodgers--] 17:19, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Updated Facts piper won the golden gloves boxing championship was a black belt in judo and was an amatuer wrestler . He also won over 7000 matches . All are facts and should be mentioned. Rick Flair said Piper was the most talented pro wrestler in history bar none.] 20:20, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

I tagged this article because, as the IP user above was trying to say, it seems like an unbalanced mix of kayfabe and the truth. And kayfabe has no place on Misplaced Pages. ] 13:06, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

==Piper's Pit==

Who is for it as a seperate article, and who is against it? I think a discussion needs to be made, before people just decide to revert it back to a redirect with no discussion. The interview segment is notable, and can be more than just "listcruft" as one editor called it during a revert back to the redirect. ] 07:57, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

<b>Support</b>, cautiously... I agree with RobJ1981, it can be more than listcruft. At very least, it would need a discussion of the notable Pits... the Snuka/coconut incident, Frankie Williams, Andre and Heenan challenging Hogan. ] 12:47, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Zipster

== Not supposed to win the Tag Team title? ==

What's this about Flair and Piper weren't even supposed to win the Tag Team titles? This is the first I've heard of it, and what's more, there's no proof of this. I'm taking it out until someone brings forth some proof. ] 14:44, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Things do sometimes fail to happen as intended - as an extreme example, witness the ]. This may not be such a case, but keep the possibility in mind. ] 07:16, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

==ECW Appearance==

Can I just point out that Piper did not attack Boogeyman with a steel chair at all. Piper threw Striker back into the ring, before Boogeyman spat worms into Striker's mouth. Piper just left the scene. <small>—Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 15:16, 11 October 2007 (UTC)</small><!-- Template:Unsigned --> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

However, he lost it soon after to Bret Hart at WrestleMania VIII, in what is '''regarded as one of the best matches in WrestleMania history'''

Huh?
