Dark’s career in the entertainment industry began with acting. She first starred in a European advert<ref>(The Universe newspaper, May 28, 2000)</ref> but Dark only got the job because she was in the right place at the right time, it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity. The production crew thought that Dark was the actor for the day; when Lisa Lee turned up they asked her if she was the person in question and she replied by saying yes. Dark was far too shy<ref>(The Mirror newspaper, May 8, 2000)</ref> to tell to tell them the truth, she still to this day doesn’t know what happened to the original actor. She puts it all down to fate and destiny. Dark’s other acting roles have been voice over work on low budget European horror movies; she has also done voice over work on five Hollywood movies<ref>|accessdate=2008-08-01</ref>, although she says that they were only tiny parts and she never got credited on the films.

Dark’s music career began at an early age and like her acting career it all happened by chance. Dark was heard singing in her local park by a record producer. He approached Lisa Lee and told her that he wanted to take her into the recording studio to record her voice, but she was only six years old<ref>(Messenger of Saint Anthony, October,2005)</ref> and very shy so she told him no, but luckily he was very persistent<ref>|title= GOD AND I|accessdate= 2008-08-01</ref>. He needed to be, as it took him three years to convince the shy youngster to trust him enough to begin recording for him.

In 1998 Dark signed her first solo recording contract, but she would have to wait almost a year before her record company released her debut dance album. In 1999 Dark released the album ‘The unknown story of Lisa Lee Dark’. There were three more dance albums released and Dark achieved moderate success selling 160,000 records<ref>|accessdate=2008-008-01</ref> for the dance record label VIP international records.


In 2004 Dark released her fifth studio album<ref>|title= SOPRANOS TRIUMPH OVER ADVERSITY RECORDED IN NEW SOLO ALBUM|accessdate=2008-08-01</ref> titled Breath of life<ref>|accessdate=2008-08-01</ref>. In 2008 dark made a come back to the music industry with the release of her debut opera album, ]. This album contains Dark’s debut opera performance in ]’s opera ]. Dark played the part of Liu. There was also a second album released,’ The screen behind the mirror’, this was a special limited edition album. The songs on this album are Dark’s debut opera recordings and her audition for the opera company that she is signed to.

Lisa Lee Dark (born Lee Dark; 16 April 1981) is a Welsh opera singer, songwriter, and voice actress.

Early life

Lisa Lee Dark was born Lee Dark in the Clydach area of Swansea on 16 April 1981. Her distant relatives include Italian opera singer Adelina Patti. She was born with the rare medical condition congenital adrenal hyperplasia, which leads to excessive generation of testosterone during the early part of foetal life. This meant that she was raised as male because doctors failed to realise that she was biologically female, a fact even she did not discover until she was 19 years old. She was very badly bullied during her school years. She went to an all-boys comprehensive school where she would regularly get kicked, punched, spat at, and have obscene things screamed at her; even outside school, she would get the same treatment because she was slightly different and did not behave like all the other boys. This left her with agoraphobia and PTSD.

Music career

At age 12 she was discovered while singing in a park in Swansea. In 2000 she released a compilation CD of ten years of her recordings she called The Unknown Story of Lisa-Lee Dark. In 2004, Dark released an album entitled Breath of Life. As of 2009 it had sold 50,000 copies. She has released several more since, including one in French. She had previously worked on films, backing tracks and voiceovers.

Dark claims an 8–9 octave vocal range.
