The "Chief Nazim" a.k.a District Nazim is elected by the Na-zims of Union Councils, Union Councillors and by Tehsil Nazims, who themselves are elected directly by the votes of the local public.

Previously, Pakistan had a system in which ] use to be the head of ], since the time of ], but now under the new act i.e. ], Nazim is having different and more much power then ]s. Nazim System came after Commissionerate system was lifted by Pakistan, that was imposed from the time of ].
