==Burkinabè NOT Burkinabé==
If you are thinking of changing "Burkinabè" to "Burkinabé" on the Burkina Faso wikipedia page, this is incorrect, do not do it. "Burkinabè" is not French. The demonym was created by Thomas Sankara and the suffix "bè" is Fulfulde. This demonym is invariant in number and in gender and is the only correct way to designate someone from Burkina Faso. Do not change it to the incorrect "Burkinabé" — Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 19:52, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello. Just curious as to why the current demonym is Burkinabè and not Burkinabé, like I was previously led to believe. Is there a consensus on this? When was it changed? Who decreed this? I'm pretty sure that for a long time we used Burkinabé. Thank you! ] (]) 05:02, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

Separate article for 1984–1987
Does anyone here think we should separate the 1984–1987 era Burkina Faso into a new article??
- I agree with IP editor. — Sadko (words are wind) 00:32, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
Current GDP is 174th as sourced in the GDP page itself.
Some other nation descriptors are slightly outdated, all least concern just thought it was of note. 2601:204:EA7F:3CC0:9A54:B2DF:9C2E:1CE7 (talk) 08:57, 8 September 2024 (UTC)

I added the official name of Burkina Faso, People's Republic of Burkina Faso on the Lead per source. Wår (talk) 00:07, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- I see that Remikipedia has reverted this. The claimed etymology of "Burkina Faso" appears to be wrong. I believe "Faso" means "fatherland" or "homeland", not "republic".
- The source provided seems to be reliable, so I support the inclusion of the new official name. But I do agree that it would be nice to have more than one source to back it up. TheLegendofGanon (talk) 20:04, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- It's not the official name by any means. Not in any legal document or any international organization that has the state itself as a representative. The source itself uses Misplaced Pages as a source thus it is not reliable for something as big as an official state name. Also I did not claim Faso etymologically republic, I claimed it is used as a synonym. Example being the head of state, the president, is called the "Président du Faso" (https://www.presidencedufaso.bf). No news from Burkina Faso itself (not from the transitional government or state press) have made any announcement if they adopted any official name, which they should have done if they did just like they did when they announced their intention to revert to the old Sankarist motto as the official motto. - Ok. Let's leave it like this. I have no objection. Wår (talk) 01:33, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
