Lieutenant Colonel Ilya Andreevich Sizov (Russian: Илья Андреевич Сизов; born 17 August 1985) is a Russian military man, fighter pilot, and deputy commander of the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment 303rd Mixed Aviation Division 11th Air Force and Air Defense Army. He is a participant in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where he also received the award Hero of the Russian Federation (2022).

Biography

Born in Kineshma, Ivanovo Oblast into a military family, he spent his childhood in Karelia, and graduated from secondary school No. 45 in Petrozavodsk.

He graduated from the Krasnodar Military Aviation Institute. In 2016, he won the all-army military competition "Aviadarts". He participated in the Russian military operation in Syria.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while flying a Su-30SM fighter, Lieutenant Colonel Ilya Sizov "destroyed 11 Ukrainian aircraft (3 Su-24 aircraft, 3 Su-27 aircraft, 2 MiG-29 aircraft, 2 Mi-24 helicopters, 1 Mi-14 helicopter), and two Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems".
