He served under Nawab Kapur Singh and led one of the twenty-five bands of Sikh dhahwis in 1745. When the Dal Khalsa formed in 1748, Nodh Singh became the head of the ]. Nodh Singh died in 1752 after enemy soldiers set fire to a cave he was in. He was succeeded by his son Charat Singh.
