== About deleting my ] article ==
Hi Jimfbleak, | |||
== COI workaround? == | |||
When I submitted my draft for the book World on the Brink, I was assured that if it was not up to standards, I would receive constructive criticism on how to improve it. Instead, you deleted it, saying it is "just a book review." You may also recall that I originally posted a longer draft article, which you deleted because you thought I have a conflict of interest (I don't). I submitted the shorter version in order to remove anything even approaching an opinion about the book.
Hi Jim, | |||
I would like to respectfully ask you how I should approach summarizing a book that I read and liked, and that is important to U.S. foreign policy, in such a way that you or others will not delete it. This is my first draft article and I would like to do more, but obviously I don't want them to be deleted. Please teach me.

As you rightly mentioned, conflict of interest (COI) is the problem. Is there a workaround? Do I get someone else to write about me or are there more ways to just about keep article neutral enough for publication? Can I trouble you to have a look whether if it's worth my time requesting for a retrieval of the deleted content for another try? Thanks.

::Thank you Jimfbleak,
::I wanted to spell check what I'd written as a word doc then transferred to Misplaced Pages so yes it is a text dump. And no, everything I have submitted was written by me originally, over time, beginning my 1992 article in Radio & Records. It is not promotional outside of taking credit for something that I've written about and its a 32 year accepted theory in the music and radio industry and published inside the industry and summitting it for public consumption.As far as respected, its been quoted all over the world I gave a few sources in my submission...in Australia and Germany. I hope you're doing well. I noticed that the Misplaced Pages page for Derek Warburton was recently deleted under the reason "G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion."
:::You said ''I gave a few sources in my submission... The verifiable information of the theory is all on the original text I submitted'' but that's simply not true. The rest of the text was completely unsourced, basically just your unsupported claims, and self-promoting ''his theory has become well known respected and believed in by radio programmers and owners as well as many music label executives since it was first published.'' with absolutely nothing to prove that (if its even provable - has anyone done a survey?). I believe the deletion may have been made in error, as I have reviewed the content of the article and would like to provide clarification regarding its notability. Derek Warburton has been covered extensively in independent, reliable sources such as:
::::Jimfbleak, | |||
::::If I'm the original source of an observation that music genres change, around every ten years(with me describing those changes and what causes them). Well its an observation once pointed out by me, became obvious to "anyone" in our industry who has seen these changes occur decade after decade in the Billboard Hot 100 music charts, here in the U.S. since the Dawn of Rock & Roll through today. Besides describing the genre changes and the causes in my submission of the Ten Year Music Cycle, I additionally tried to clarify the cycles and phases by showing artists that typify each evolution or devolution of rock pop or R&B through each music cycle, listed here(and in my submission) https://guyzapoleon.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Music-Cycle-by-Phase-2024-Artist-List.pdf.
::::When Misplaced Pages published a section on a 20 year fashion cycle ("Fashion forecasting - Misplaced Pages" "Fashion trends tend to repeat themselves every 20 years" or anything new theory for that matter there were often just an observation that they existed and verified based on observations given by knowledgable people(industry experts) in that particular industry. Similarly to the 20 year fashion cycle the Ten Year Music Cycle has been widely accepted. Whats my proof, it's published in the leading magazines of the Music and Radio industries, Radio & Records, AllAccess.com, Inside Radio, and written about by well known journalist Ben Fong Torres from Rolling Stone in his book and written about in the New York Times by then music editor Neil Strauss https://www.nytimes.com/1996/07/21/arts/pop-view-birth-and-rebirth-on-the-airwaves.html It's referenced many times by other industry professionals over the past 32 years.
::::If there is anyone I could hire inside Misplaced Pages to help me I'd be glad to pay for that help?
::::Failing that I'm not sure what else I can do to convince you or anyone at Misplaced Pages, that this concept is worthy of publishing.

Thomas D. Bell Jr. has made significant contributions to both Atlanta and the broader U.S. economy through his leadership roles in companies like Norfolk Southern, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and the United States Chamber of Commerce under President Obama. Hello,
== Happy Holidays == | |||
I hope this message finds you well. I recently contributed an article about Raghav Khanna, an Indian producer, but it was deleted shortly after being submitted. The draft was marked as promotional or advertising material, which came as a surprise to me. I intended to document Mr. Khanna's contributions to the Indian film and entertainment industry, drawing from reliable sources, including interviews, publications, and media coverage.
<div style="border-style:solid; border-color:#FF4646; background-color:#F6F0F7; border-width:2px; text-align:left; padding:7px; border-radius:1em; box-shadow: 0.1em 0.1em 0.5em rgba(0,0,0,0.75);;" class="plainlinks">]]]{{Center|]}}
My goal was not to promote Mr. Khanna but to provide an accurate and well-rounded account of his work and impact on the industry. I believe his achievements are noteworthy and deserve a place on Misplaced Pages.

Hate to be like this but the deletion of my draft for ] makes no sense. It was not "Unambiguous advertising or promotion" - I have no connection to the band and there was no promotional text on the page, or much prose at all beyond the lead sentence - nor was it "Misuse of Misplaced Pages as a web host" - it was a userspace draft, something I and countless Wikipedians have made many times to draft articles, and it wasn't even up for two hours before getting deleted. It was an article in development, and I can't think of anything about the formatting or sourcing that would've warranted this. I also was given no notice on my user talk page, something I'm given to understand is required for deletions like this. I genuinely don't understand this, as none of my other userspace drafts have been spontaneously deleted like this (even ones that probably had cause to be), and I would like either a better explanation or, if warranted, an undeletion. ] (]) 17:31, 25 August 2024 (UTC)

COI workaround?
Hi Jim,
Got your message, thanks. First article attempt got deleted. Probably quite common. Still sad.
Thanks.

Request for Review of Deletion of "Derek Warburton" Misplaced Pages Page
Dear Jimfbleak,
I hope you're doing well. I noticed that the Misplaced Pages page for Derek Warburton was recently deleted under the reason "G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion." I believe the deletion may have been made in error, as I have reviewed the content of the article and would like to provide clarification regarding its notability. Derek Warburton has been covered extensively in independent, reliable sources such as:
- Forbes: An interview discussing branding in the media and entertainment sectors. (Forbes)
- Elle Canada: Featured for promoting international emerging designers. (Elle Canada)
- Flaunt Magazine: Covered for launching a makeup line in collaboration with FACE Stockholm. (Flaunt)
- Glamour Magazine: Featured for his philanthropic work encouraging self-love. (Derek Warburton Press)
- Mr. Warburton Magazine: As the founder and editor-in-chief, showcasing art, fashion, and celebrity. (Mr. Warburton Magazine)
Furthermore, we understand the importance of adhering to Misplaced Pages's guidelines for neutrality and verifiability, and we are currently in the process of editing the article to ensure it aligns with these standards.
I would be grateful if you could review the article again, considering these improvements and the sources supporting his notability. If the article can be restored, I will continue to monitor and improve it to meet Misplaced Pages's guidelines. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards, Jenn Salmorin Jenn Salmorin (talk) 04:24, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Jenn Salmorin, you claim to know the content of a deleted article that you cannot see, and you say we are currently in the process of editing the article to ensure it aligns with these standards. You have an obvious conflict of interest, please read independent verifiable sources (sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them), the notability guidelines, promotion (articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews) and paid editing. I note that your supposed refs include an interview with him and his own magazine, how are these independent third-party sources as we require here? If any new version appears that is non-compliant with our rules, I'll delete it and consider blocking the creator. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:26, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @JimfbleakThank you for your response, and I appreciate your dedication to maintaining Misplaced Pages’s high standards.
- I’d like to clarify a few points regarding my involvement:
- My Role: I am not the creator or editor of the deleted article. I represent Derek Warburton in a professional capacity and was made aware of the deletion by others. My intention in reaching out is to understand the concerns that led to the deletion and explore how the content might be improved or reinstated in line with Misplaced Pages’s guidelines.
- Conflict of Interest: I fully acknowledge and respect Misplaced Pages’s Conflict of Interest (COI) policy. As Derek Warburton’s representative, my intention is not to edit or recreate the article myself but to ensure that accurate, verifiable, and neutral information is available to support its potential inclusion.
- Sources and Compliance: I understand the need for independent, reliable third-party sources and neutrality. Derek Warburton has been covered by publications such as Forbes, Elle Canada, and Flaunt Magazine, which I believe meet these standards. If necessary, we are happy to provide a full list of these sources for your review.
- My main objective is to ensure that any future article on Derek Warburton is fully compliant with Misplaced Pages’s policies. Could you advise on the best way to move forward?
- I understand the importance of relying on independent, reliable third-party sources. Going forward, I will ensure that the team references only notable publications excluding interviews, press releases, or any sources affiliated with Derek Warburton or his organizations.
- The primary goal is to ensure that any future article fully meets Misplaced Pages’s standards for neutrality and verifiability. I would greatly appreciate your guidance on how to proceed constructively. Would preparing a draft and submitting it through the Articles for Creation (AfC) process for community review be the appropriate next step? If there are other considerations or steps we should follow, I am happy to relay this to the team and ensure they are addressed.
- I sincerely apologize if my initial outreach caused any misunderstanding about my intentions. I fully respect Misplaced Pages’s guidelines and your authority in this matter. My goal is to address the issue constructively and ensure compliance moving forward.
- Thank you again for your time and insights. I look forward to your advice on how best to resolve this matter.
- Best regards, Jenn Salmorin (talk) 07:06, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Request for Review of Deletion of Lindholm Misplaced Pages Page
Hi Jimfbleak,
Thanks for your review on my recently created page for Mr. Lindholm. Mr. Lindholm is a friend and I will disclose that COI moving forwards. Before I request recovery for the draft, I have some questions.
Would you be able to provide some clarification on why the page was deleted for U5: Misuse of Misplaced Pages as a web host? Mr. Lindholm is still alive and the purpose of the article is to provide additional context and information behind the development of graphic processing units, in particular the GeForce 256 hardware T&L and GeForce 3 shader units, as these technological advancements were key to modern GPUs. I included numerous citations and kept the tone of the article objective to avoid bias. Would you be able to let me know which sections were not objective and require updates or edits?
Your help is much appreciated as I'd like to ensure that any future article on Mr. Lindholm is compliant with Misplaced Pages policies.
Thanks! Bage4416 (talk) 16:36, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Request for Review of Deletion of Guanghua Li Misplaced Pages Page
Hi Jimfbleak,
Thanks for your review on my recently created page for Guanghua Li.
Guanghua Li is a photographer, I like her children's pictures and that's the reason I create this page.
Would you be able to provide some clarification on why the page was deleted? The purpose of this entry is to introduce her briefly. There are many reports about her in Chinese. I already remove some personal description words and write it neutrally.
Your help is much appreciated as I'd like to ensure that any future article on Guanghua Li is compliant with Misplaced Pages policies.

Follow up on ZKH Industrial Supply page
- Hi Jimfbleak,
- Thanks and well received the latest feedback. I will adjust the content accordingly.
- Don't get me wrong. I don't want to create promotional content for the organisation, I just want to write some existing facts about the firm so that audience can have more visibility about the company when they search it. The company is a Chinese firm and has listed on NYSE since 2023. Currently most of third-parties (like news) are from local and not in english language, I wonder if that's acceptable if I use them in citation? And is there a minumum number of reference needed?
- Besides reference issue, regarding the latest edits, are any other parts that I need to adjust my wording?
- Thanks and looking forward to your feedback.
