Hi Jim, | |||
Binomial scientific names are written with a capitalised generic name and lower case specific name, '''Fregata magnificens'''. Higher taxonomic groupings are always capitalised. | |||
Got your message, thanks. First article attempt got deleted. Probably quite common. Still sad. | |||
Should these guideline be part of the Misplaced Pages conventions, assuming that they are not already? ] 16:28 Feb 14, 2003 (UTC) | |||
As you rightly mentioned, conflict of interest (COI) is the problem. Is there a workaround? Do I get someone else to write about me or are there more ways to just about keep article neutral enough for publication? Can I trouble you to have a look whether if it's worth my time requesting for a retrieval of the deleted content for another try? Thanks. | |||

== Request for Review of Deletion of "Derek Warburton" Misplaced Pages Page == | |||
It seems to me that there is some serious confusion about the proper way to name birds (flora and fauna generally, actually), particularly with regard to capitalisation. I think it would be a good idea to thrash this stuff out once and for all at a suitable location, such as ]. If we can get the policy right by making some proposals, getting feedback and reaching general agreement, then it can become a general recommendation for all to be aware of. | |||
Dear Jimfbleak, | |||
Let me know what you think, or better yet, just go ahead and draft something, post it at that link above (or somewhere similar) and start the ball rolling. | |||
I hope you're doing well. I noticed that the Misplaced Pages page for Derek Warburton was recently deleted under the reason "G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion." | |||
Cheers - ] 12:25 Feb 15, 2003 (UTC) | |||
I believe the deletion may have been made in error, as I have reviewed the content of the article and would like to provide clarification regarding its notability. Derek Warburton has been covered extensively in independent, reliable sources such as: | |||
* '''Forbes''': An interview discussing branding in the media and entertainment sectors. () | |||
* '''Elle Canada''': Featured for promoting international emerging designers. () | |||
* '''Flaunt Magazine''': Covered for launching a makeup line in collaboration with FACE Stockholm. () | |||
* '''Glamour Magazine''': Featured for his philanthropic work encouraging self-love. () | |||
* '''Mr. Warburton Magazine''': As the founder and editor-in-chief, showcasing art, fashion, and celebrity. () | |||
Furthermore, we understand the importance of adhering to Misplaced Pages's guidelines for neutrality and verifiability, and we are currently in the process of editing the article to ensure it aligns with these standards. | |||
Thanks for comments and support. Not sure why all links to British names have been removed from ] article, so I'll put them back. I would be grateful if you could review the article again, considering these improvements and the sources supporting his notability. If the article can be restored, I will continue to monitor and improve it to meet Misplaced Pages's guidelines. | |||

If the links were redundant, it is the "Loon" versions that should go, since the "Diver" versions are the actual articles. My thinking in putting in the redirects is that an American or Canadian contributor might write redundant material if a search for, eg, Common Loon gave no result, not realising that editable material existed under ]. ::@]Thank you for your response, and I appreciate your dedication to maintaining Misplaced Pages’s high standards. | |||
::I’d like to clarify a few points regarding my involvement: | |||
::My Role: I am not the creator or editor of the deleted article. I represent Derek Warburton in a professional capacity and was made aware of the deletion by others. ::Sources and Compliance: I understand the need for independent, reliable third-party sources and neutrality. Derek Warburton has been covered by publications such as Forbes, Elle Canada, and Flaunt Magazine, which I believe meet these standards. If there are other considerations or steps we should follow, I am happy to relay this to the team and ensure they are addressed. | |||

== Request for Review of Deletion of Lindholm Misplaced Pages Page == | |||
Hi Jimfbleak, | |||
::: thanks again. I didn't pick up the case sensitivity. All picture changes are OK by me ] | |||
Thanks for your review on my recently created page for Mr. Lindholm. Mr. Lindholm is a friend and I will disclose that COI moving forwards. Before I request recovery for the draft, I have some questions. | |||
---- | |||
Would you be able to provide some clarification on why the page was deleted for ]'':'' ]? Mr. Lindholm is still alive and the purpose of the article is to provide additional context and information behind the development of graphic processing units, in particular the GeForce 256 hardware T&L and GeForce 3 shader units, as these technological advancements were key to modern GPUs. I included numerous citations and kept the tone of the article objective to avoid bias. Would you be able to let me know which sections were not objective and require updates or edits? | |||
Over here we have (I think) only four true thrushes, Jim: the European Song Thrush ''T. philomelos'', which is introduced but, in a gentlemanly way, restricts itself to a small area around Melbourne and blends in with the natives without fuss or bother; the Common Blackbird (of which the lesssaid the better!), the Russet-tailed Thrush ''Zoothera heinei'' which I know little of as it's range is well north of me bar that it's very similar to; the Bassian Thrush ''Z. lunulata''. I started doing a Bassian Thrush entry just now but then stopped again when I realised that it has a wide range - "PNG, se Asia, Siberia & eastern Europe" outside Australia and figured that you might be in progress with it. | |||
Your help is much appreciated as I'd like to ensure that any future article on Mr. Lindholm is compliant with Misplaced Pages policies. | |||
As a matter of interest, I saw one on Saturday, in a suburban Ballarat garden. They are normally very shy and stay in thick cover. The fact that one was poking around that garden only 3 or 4 metres away from three humans spoke volumes for the severity of the drought in the bush nearby. I think it might have been a very young one - it seemed quite fearless, and I am sure that it's somewhere inside a cat by now. | |||
Thanks! | |||
Most of our "thrushes" are actualy shrike-thrushes, family ''Pachycephalidae'', including the Grey Shrike-thrush, ''Colluricincla harmonica'', which manages to be a direct competor with the Blackbird in two senses: (a) food & habitat, (b) song - the Grey Shrike-thrush never fails to amaze us with its volume, melody and variation. Bar lyrebirds, he's probably the best singer in the country. (The little Golden and Rufous Whistlers, pound for pound, are louder though. (Same family.) | |||

Why is this bird called a "kite", while that one is a "harrier"? Sort of a glossary, I guess. ] | |||
:Raptor classification. Yes! It's a mine field! I've been doing some digging today. It seems that the official Australian & NZ list agrees with the South African one, but the Americans (as we know) are quite different, and I can't seem to find an English one. has a link to the current Oz & NZ list (in PDF form) and is useful too. Can you point me at any useful resources on your side of the world? | |||
: Also, I made a start on that glossary idea in ]. Go right ahead and add to it and/or move it if you want to. ] | |||
:PS: about ''raptor'' - I've nearly always heard it used to mean "eagles. falcons & etc.", as opposed to birds of prey in general (owls & etc.) but that needs checking: maybe it's just the Australian usage. | |||

COI workaround?
Hi Jim,
Got your message, thanks. First article attempt got deleted. Probably quite common. Still sad.
Thanks.

Request for Review of Deletion of "Derek Warburton" Misplaced Pages Page
Dear Jimfbleak,
I hope you're doing well. I noticed that the Misplaced Pages page for Derek Warburton was recently deleted under the reason "G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion." I believe the deletion may have been made in error, as I have reviewed the content of the article and would like to provide clarification regarding its notability. Derek Warburton has been covered extensively in independent, reliable sources such as:
- Forbes: An interview discussing branding in the media and entertainment sectors. (Forbes)
- Elle Canada: Featured for promoting international emerging designers. (Elle Canada)
- Flaunt Magazine: Covered for launching a makeup line in collaboration with FACE Stockholm. (Flaunt)
- Glamour Magazine: Featured for his philanthropic work encouraging self-love. (Derek Warburton Press)
- Mr. Warburton Magazine: As the founder and editor-in-chief, showcasing art, fashion, and celebrity. (Mr. Warburton Magazine)
Furthermore, we understand the importance of adhering to Misplaced Pages's guidelines for neutrality and verifiability, and we are currently in the process of editing the article to ensure it aligns with these standards.
I would be grateful if you could review the article again, considering these improvements and the sources supporting his notability. If the article can be restored, I will continue to monitor and improve it to meet Misplaced Pages's guidelines. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards, Jenn Salmorin Jenn Salmorin (talk) 04:24, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Jenn Salmorin, you claim to know the content of a deleted article that you cannot see, and you say we are currently in the process of editing the article to ensure it aligns with these standards. You have an obvious conflict of interest, please read independent verifiable sources (sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them), the notability guidelines, promotion (articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews) and paid editing. I note that your supposed refs include an interview with him and his own magazine, how are these independent third-party sources as we require here? If any new version appears that is non-compliant with our rules, I'll delete it and consider blocking the creator. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:26, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- @JimfbleakThank you for your response, and I appreciate your dedication to maintaining Misplaced Pages’s high standards.
- I’d like to clarify a few points regarding my involvement:
- My Role: I am not the creator or editor of the deleted article. I represent Derek Warburton in a professional capacity and was made aware of the deletion by others. My intention in reaching out is to understand the concerns that led to the deletion and explore how the content might be improved or reinstated in line with Misplaced Pages’s guidelines.
- Conflict of Interest: I fully acknowledge and respect Misplaced Pages’s Conflict of Interest (COI) policy. As Derek Warburton’s representative, my intention is not to edit or recreate the article myself but to ensure that accurate, verifiable, and neutral information is available to support its potential inclusion.
- Sources and Compliance: I understand the need for independent, reliable third-party sources and neutrality. Derek Warburton has been covered by publications such as Forbes, Elle Canada, and Flaunt Magazine, which I believe meet these standards. If necessary, we are happy to provide a full list of these sources for your review.
- My main objective is to ensure that any future article on Derek Warburton is fully compliant with Misplaced Pages’s policies. Could you advise on the best way to move forward?
- I understand the importance of relying on independent, reliable third-party sources. Going forward, I will ensure that the team references only notable publications excluding interviews, press releases, or any sources affiliated with Derek Warburton or his organizations.
- The primary goal is to ensure that any future article fully meets Misplaced Pages’s standards for neutrality and verifiability. I would greatly appreciate your guidance on how to proceed constructively. Would preparing a draft and submitting it through the Articles for Creation (AfC) process for community review be the appropriate next step? If there are other considerations or steps we should follow, I am happy to relay this to the team and ensure they are addressed.
- I sincerely apologize if my initial outreach caused any misunderstanding about my intentions. I fully respect Misplaced Pages’s guidelines and your authority in this matter. My goal is to address the issue constructively and ensure compliance moving forward.
- Thank you again for your time and insights. I look forward to your advice on how best to resolve this matter.
- Best regards, Jenn Salmorin (talk) 07:06, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Request for Review of Deletion of Lindholm Misplaced Pages Page
Hi Jimfbleak,
Thanks for your review on my recently created page for Mr. Lindholm. Mr. Lindholm is a friend and I will disclose that COI moving forwards. Before I request recovery for the draft, I have some questions.
Would you be able to provide some clarification on why the page was deleted for U5: Misuse of Misplaced Pages as a web host?
Your help is much appreciated as I'd like to ensure that any future article on Mr. Lindholm is compliant with Misplaced Pages policies.
Thanks! Bage4416 (talk) 16:36, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Request for Review of Deletion of Guanghua Li Misplaced Pages Page
Hi Jimfbleak,
Thanks for your review on my recently created page for Guanghua Li.
Guanghua Li is a photographer, I like her children's pictures and that's the reason I create this page.
Would you be able to provide some clarification on why the page was deleted? The purpose of this entry is to introduce her briefly. There are many reports about her in Chinese. I already remove some personal description words and write it neutrally.
Your help is much appreciated as I'd like to ensure that any future article on Guanghua Li is compliant with Misplaced Pages policies.

Follow up on ZKH Industrial Supply page
- Hi Jimfbleak,
- Thanks and well received the latest feedback. I will adjust the content accordingly.
- Don't get me wrong. I don't want to create promotional content for the organisation, I just want to write some existing facts about the firm so that audience can have more visibility about the company when they search it. The company is a Chinese firm and has listed on NYSE since 2023. Currently most of third-parties (like news) are from local and not in english language, I wonder if that's acceptable if I use them in citation? And is there a minumum number of reference needed?
- Besides reference issue, regarding the latest edits, are any other parts that I need to adjust my wording?
- Thanks and looking forward to your feedback.
