Jacques Marie Mage sometimes abbreviated to JMM is a luxury eyewear brand that manufactures its designs in limited production runs. Designer Jerome Mage founded the company in 2014.
History
Jacques Marie Mage's founder, Jerome Mage, began his career designing eyewear for brands like Spy Optic and Arnette in Southern California. The brand’s 2015 launch showcased its thick, sculpted, frames to an industry saturated with minimalist eye wear designers.
One of its early designs referenced Bob Dylan's eyewear. The model named the Dealan featured a Wayfarer design made from black acetate with sterling silver hardware and dark green lenses. The brand's 1960's aesthetic is also featured in its collaboration with Los Angeles-based retailer Union Los Angeles. The brand has worked with the actor and musician Jeff Goldblum after approaching him for a three-frame deal in 2021. Goldblum also wore a pair of the designer's frames to the Loewe spring 2025 menswear show at Paris fashion week in the Autumn of 2024.
In 2024, the designer launched a campaign that featured Duke Nicholson and Devon Lee Carlson. It was the company's third collaboration with stylist George Cortina. The designer also collaborated with model and designer Erin Wasson on a limited-edition eye wear collection.
Jeremy Strong approached the brand to produce two custom pairs of Ripley shades. One for his character Kendall from the hit TV series, Succession and one for himself. In autumn 2024, Strong and Mage launched a limited-edition set of Japanese-constructed aviator frames. The acetate frames are engraved with Strong's artwork and named after a goblin from Spanish folklore called Duende. The brand included a copy of Federico García Lorca's 1933 lecture about Duende with each pair.
Production
The company's frames are designed in the United States and manufactured in Japan, and Italy. Its products are manufactured by ateliers in a process that takes 18 months and involves 300 steps.
It sources materials such as Takiron acetate and beta titanium from Japan. Some of its models also include inlays made from precious stones, 18-karat gold filigrees and sterling silver accents.
Known for its limited product runs, the brand releases each model in small, serialized batches, often producing approximately three hundred pairs per design.
