Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Current requests for protection

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    WP:Verification (edit | ] | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

full protection In spite of a detailed search for consensus as soon as the consensus wording is added, user SlimVirgin reverted the discussion, claiming no consensus. I note that there is an assumption that silence is approval. Further there is complex 3RR via tag-teaming with Crum365. Further, the wording being sought in policy is closely related to another edit-war dispute at Factory farming which relies on non-acedemic sources being placed higher than well validated sources. All in all, not very pretty for administrators to do this. Spenny 23:33, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

    Machu Picchu (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

full protection +cascade, +expiry 1 month, Full protection: High-visible template, Since this last July 7th 2007, there is an increase of attention because Machu Picchu has been selected as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World (Which also have been protected), this has awakening some intense and radical views and disputes, many of which are irrational in nature. I suggest that you also protect the other new wonders, since I have been seeing that some of the same users has reverted or deleted information about it. In addition, there are vandals that have been blocked from the Spanish version that now want to continue with their misbehaviors in this version and for some reason especially with these type of articles. temporary semi-protect. High level of variable-IP vandalism from a single user. Bendž|Ť 13:09, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Comment: I'm hesitant, it doesn't seem like anyone has tried to communicate with the editor/warn him (correct me if I'm wrong) and in his latest edit he has decided not to include the POV he was pushing before. What do the rest of you think? Pax:Vobiscum 17:38, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
It looks like the most recent IP edit was from a different, productive user, 84.9.228.106 (who would unfortunately be locked out of the article with sprotection), while the disruptive edits are coming from the 86.108.x.x range. The disruptive editor has in fact made arrogant comments at the talk page, which seems to indicate that he knows what he's doing. Ƙɽɨɱρȶ 18:05, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

semi-protect. As the Halo 3 Alternate Reality Game is going on, people are just getting on and copying and pasting from the halo wiki into this wiki. I am trying to wikify the article so that it has a place here but people just keep getting on and adding whatever shows up on the Halo Wiki. I have tried in the past to cut things down but people just want to copy and paste, a lot of the major copying and pasting is done from ip addresses.

Baby (Dragon Ball) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protect (permanent). Some guy keeps putting random fancruft claiming that Baby's final form has Super Saiyan 3 features, refuses to bspecific and is likely continuing despite many warnings. MightyKombat 19:19, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Declined for now - not enough recent vandalism, and semi-protection is generally not a pre-emptive measure. If it worsens to the point where you're needing to revert multiple IP's a few times a day, please come back. MastCell 19:50, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Israeli-Palestinian conflict (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

We are trying to edit this page. could an admin please come to the talk page, to help us and provide some guidance on the next step? thanks. --Sm8900 13:38, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Note: message left at the article's Talk page. Regards, Phaedriel - 14:32, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

    Ferenc Gyurcsány (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Specific description of the requested edit:

    Delete this statements:

    • Under his office, Hungary suffered a high-profile athletic doping scandal during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. (no reference to justify the connection with him)
    • After his return to politics, Gyurcsány was at first tight-lipped on his religious affiliation, leading many to assume that he is an atheist (as can be expected from a former KISZ leader).

(Referenced content don't justify about this this statement. The "as can be expected from a former KISZ leader" is an subjective opinion. Thanks --Beyond silence 23:29, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Declined It seems to have been protected due to an edit war involving these statements. Protection is so parties are forced to either discuss or give up. Try one of those (preferably the former). Mr.Z-mantalk¢ 19:03, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

    Fulfilled/denied requests

The Adventure of Sudsakorn (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protect. I previously asked for semi-protection over here, a request which was granted for a period of about two weeks. After the two weeks have expired, the same thing began happening again, so I asked for semi-protection once more. It was denied and I was told to wait for more occurences.

If you look at the history of the article now, you will see a pattern emerge - the same user makes huge amounts of vandalism edits on the same day, then returns in a few days and does the same thing with a different IP. It would be uneconomical to ban every single IP, because it changes every time he logs on.

If I need to wait once more, I understand, but I think I'll be back here again in a week or so. This individual is showing no signs of going away. Esn 17:51, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Permanent semi-protection until game's release - More vandalism and unconfirmed info continues to be added by new users and IPs (though at least one is helping by reverting any signs of said edits). It would be helpful if we could get the article permanently semi'd until it's release to avoid the wars that happened at Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 before it came out. // DecaimientoPoético 21:00, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

    WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

full protection for 10 days; An article about an upcoming video game based on professional wrestling. This page was originally getting heavy vandalism by IPs who were adding names to the 'announced roster' section, without sources. I am not sure how much longer is left on the semi-protection, but when it was first enabled, it had a time period of 45 days. Besides that, semi-protections had been enabled in the past for the same reason. Now, the page is getting vandalized again in the same manner by registered users. If there is a delay between my request, and the enabling of protection, please make sure that the last edit was made by me (or revert to it). I also ask (but it doesn't have to be fulfilled) that the registered vandals be warned and/or blocked when applicable. Thank you.Socby19 01:39, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Socby19

Declined Full protection is not used to prevent vandalism (WP:PROTECT). If someone vandalizes the article give him a warning (you don't have to be an admin to do that), and if he continues, report him to WP:AIV. Pax:Vobiscum 07:30, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

    Vladimir Putin‎ (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Full protection requested to prevent edit warring. Parties are talking on the article's Talk page but the edit warring continues in the article. --ElKevbo 22:08, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

    • Oppose -- The users participating in the edit war can be blocked, and the article semi-protected if necessary to prevent block evasion. There's no need to lock everyone out of the article simply because some users insist on holding an edit war. John254 22:47, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
This isn't a vote. I asked for admin assistance in reigning in an ongoing edit war in a high profile article and I'd appreciate an answer. However, one of the major players in the edit war has been blocked for 24 hours for a 3RR violation so protection may be unnecessary. It may be best to hold off for a bit to see where this goes but I'd still appreciate an answer instead of being ignored. --ElKevbo 03:41, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Full protection - a pair of registered users, alleged to be sockpuppets of each other, continue to replace his Yankee colors with Mets colors on various questionable grounds. I have raised the colors issue on the baseball project page, but nothing much has been discussed so far. Meanwhile, I don't think it's appropriate for sockpuppets to be pushing me past the 3-revert rule. I'd like for that page to be protected until the issue can be decided. But it should NOT be protected with the Mets colors, since that's what the alleged sockpuppets are pushing for. P.S. Requesting full protection at the recommendation of another admin, as semi-protection is already in place and is not stopping these editors. Hopefully the issue can be settled in a few days, and then it could return to semi-protection to keep the User:Ron liebman sockpuppet brigade away from it, which is an unrelated issue.
