Capture-bonding
Hey Sadi, I read your RfC and would like to help out in any way possible. If you could outline your problem with Keith with a little more depth I would be really appreciative. Hopefully your dispute can be worked out quickly. Thanks so much--Cronholm144 23:25, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Cronholm, in short, an editor named User:Hkhenson, i.e. Keith Henson, wrote a 2002 article on the topic of capture; in addition, on various web pages he claims that he is the first to propose the theory, such as this webpage, where Henson claims “Until I proposed capture-bonding it had been a completely unexplained slice of weirdness.” Myself, before I stumbled upon this article, I had read about capture bonding in psychologist John Money’s 1980 book Love & Love Sickness – the Science of Pair-Bonding, where he applies the concept of capture bonding to abnormal psychology situations, such as in a bad marriage that a spouse seems to be trapped in or kidnapping cases where given chances to escape the captive paradoxically remains bound to the captor, etc. I found the term and concept used in other published sources as well. Hence, over the last year, I have been attempting to edit and add to this article with these various sources, but Henson continuously reverts, because it is not according to his point of view. Your comments would be appreciated here, at the Mediation Cabal in progress. Thanks: --Sadi Carnot 13:44, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- I left a comment on Keith's page, but it looks like we will have to wait--Cronholm144 02:39, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Zero-point field
Perhaps I've been short-tempered. I've enjoyed some of your other edits; I think you mean well. I've re-worked the zero-point field article to focus on perhaps the desired topic. linas 01:12, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, thank-you. My desired goal is simply to see a basic science article on the term “zero-point field”. It doesn’t really matter to me what references are used or whatever. The quick article I started was simply based on whatever I could dig up from books I own, Google book search, and the internet; which basically amounts to a mis-mash, being that the topic seems to attract mostly non-scientists who seem to confound what is a simple topic. Short on time presently, but I plan to dig in a little more to the article down the road. Thanks for whatever help you can give. --Sadi Carnot 03:31, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Chemical principles
Hi, I was thinking that some discussion of the alchemical principles (salt, sulphur, mercury) would be useful to add to the history section of chemical element, or perhaps to history of the molecule. However, I'm not that familiar with this topic, and since the ancient history of chemistry seems to be one of your favorite topics I thought you might know more about it. Cheers, Itub 08:01, 24 May 2007 (UTC).
- Yes, I already have most of this typed up in a sub-section called "Heat and affinity" of a chapter called "Affinity and Free Energy" (chapter 11, pgs. 329-368) of a new 2007 textbook on Human Chemistry publishing soon. I'll just give you the 7-page subsection here: Heat and affinity with the 25-references included and I'll leave it to you to format. Later: --Sadi Carnot 11:02, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, I have started doing some formatting. --Itub 13:06, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
DYK nomination
Hi, I've nominated an article you worked on, Claus Wedekind, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Misplaced Pages:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created on May 22 where you can improve it if you see fit. MeegsC | Talk 23:36, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- Meegs, thanks for the nod, Wedekind's MHC-study is legendary in the mate-selection books and circles. I bogged down on time presently, the article was meant to be just a good start article. Later. --Sadi Carnot 11:04, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Category Attachment Theory
I'd be glad to help...but how do I add articles to the category? For example, I'd probably add Harlow and Rutter as two additonal prom. theorists. RalphLender 13:52, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Just go (1) to whatever article you feel falls under the category of "attachment theory"; (2) click the edit button for that article; (3) paste the following code Category:Attachment theory (but without the first colon ":" to the left of the word Category) at the bottom of the article where the other "category" codes are. Thanks for the help: --Sadi Carnot 00:11, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Talk page formatting
If you could indent your talk page postings according to the entry you're responding to, I wouldn't have to do it. __meco 11:16, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, moved to here. About the indenting, I don't know what you mean? Do you have an example, of where I indent wrong? --Sadi Carnot 15:36, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
On the Equilibrium of Heterogeneous Substances entry to List of important publications in chemistry
Hi Sadi, this is a great entry but we can not have it in two places. It should only be in one place. The guidelines for that article mean we debate new entries, so I have set up the debate to determine whether we have it under Physical Chemistry or Chemical Thermodynamics. The debate will close on June 22. --Bduke 01:42, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

The poor energy article
As noted, Hallen, after totally screwing up the energy article, is now going to actively prevent anybody from writing a summary of science-based energy. I really see no alternative but to get him banned from editing the thing. Otherwise we're never going to be left alone to write it. I'm open to suggestions. SBHarris 21:36, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- SB, yes I agree with you completely. I’ll revert Hallen now and give him a warning on his talk page. If he continues with his purpose-driven vandalism to this page I will completely support a ban of Hallen not just on this article, but to all articles related to energy if need be. Presently, he seems not to have learned enough of the ropes around here, and I self-fueling himself with his agenda, whatever that is? Hopefully he won’t drag this out more than he already has, and down the road I we can just repair the page, but I'll be happy to do most of the work, energy one of my favorite subjects. We’ll see what happens? --Sadi Carnot 23:47, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Sadi, I wish you well with the energy article. It is indeed a mess. I tried to mediate earlier in the year but Hallen would not cooperate. I have therefore kept out of it. I've been busy with other stuff anyway. If I can help, let me know. Good luck. --Bduke 03:02, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I noticed your comments here and there. Hopefully, it won’t take too long to get his attitude and behavior adjusted. I’ll keep you posted. Talk soon: --Sadi Carnot 08:13, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Thermodynamic potentials
Hi Sadi - have you heard of the term "Landau potential" used for grand potential or vice versa? --HappyCamper 20:42, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- I read a bit about the Landau potential in Joon Chang Lee's 2002 book Thermal Physics - Entropy and Free Energies (ch. 5); he defines the Landau potential as:
He uses this as the potential for open systems, at fixed volume, with a variable number of molecules. If this is exactly the same as the grand potential, I'm not for sure (off the top of my head); some authors use different stipulations, e.g. some define systems in an external field using "E", whereas those not in an external field use "U". Although, Pierre Perrot’s A to Z of Thermodynamics (encyclopedia) defines the grand potential as:
which is basically the same, so they could be the synonyms, but I would have to read more into the history of each term to confirm. I hope this helps. --Sadi Carnot 23:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
