Hi there!

I can appreciate that you might not be feeling so good, but we all mess up sometimes. But basically, Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia, and we tend to get rid of stuff that isn't focussed towards our main goal - writing that encyclopedia. I look forward to seeing you around improving our content. Hope you enjoy. Cheers, Moreschi 20:45, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

:(→:)

I am saddened by the fact that you are leaving because you felt you had a bad time here on Misplaced Pages, Defender 911. I know that Misplaced Pages can turn to be really stressing some times, and that some times some users can make unfriendly and painful comments, and that sometimes users are too reckless and don´t value contributions or revert them... (For instance, it happens to me often that I make a contribution to an article which I believe is auctually improving it and it is reverted by someone else). But still, consider these 2 statements made by other users:

My user name means that each and individual atom is part of the universe, and if even one atom is destroyed (which, by the way, is impossible, according to the Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy), the universe will not be a complete universe anymore. This also proves that each person is important, especially on Misplaced Pages, where each and every user is supposed to be given equal emphasis as any other user, whether he may be a plain IP address or an influential administrator.

We are building a cathedral, it will take thousands of people a generation.

I´m not sure if you´re still there, and I know you´re having a hard time, but please remember that the majority of wikipedians have good intentions... It wasn´t their intention to hurt you... I value your contributions, and I am sorry if I never could quite show so... I believe that it would be best if you were to stay, but if you feel you will suffer more if you stay, then leave for your own good... Without mattering what decision you make, I wish you good luck, I give you thumbs up, and I salute you, Defender 911. TomasBat 21:06, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

You are a good contributor, as any and every Wikipedian should be. We need good contributors here. Please rethink your decision to leave. Shruti14 ( talkcontribs ) 21:52, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S GONE! I DON'T BELIEVE IT! IT'S REALLY GONE! NO! NO! NOOOOOO!!! --Defender 911 (Leave a message!)

Oh no! I've worked so hard on the WikiResource Center! It's gone! NOOOO!!
You are of course welcome to work at the existing "WikiResource" centers such as WP:AIV, WP:UAA, WP:ANI, WP:RFCN. There are plenty of existing resources that could use your assistance. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 21:19, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
No! There's a difference! Almost all of my time on Misplaced Pages was put into that center! It's crumbled around my ears! NOOOO!!! --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 21:20, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
What is the difference? The mainstream ones have a large number of people working in a collaborative environment. That is what the wiki is about? Perhaps you should put work into other areas such as creating/editing articles? Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 21:22, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
EVERY DIFFERENCE! MONTHS OF MY TIME WERE SPENT ON THOSE FEW PAGES! It was all supposed to keep this from happening, but its inefficiancy did itself in. Oh, goodness, NO!
Defender 911
Well, Ive bout done all I can do here. Should you choose to get involved in a mainstream "wikiresource" center and would like assistance, please feel free to drop my page and ask any questions. If you choose to stay or leave, good luck. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 21:26, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Awww, don't be too upset, you can always build another one. I'm sure many people will help.
This is crushing. Now there is no forum to discuss my crisis because the Resource Center has been deleted. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 21:48, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Well, it's not too difficult to build another one. No worries. Shruti14 ( talkcontribs ) 21:50, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Hopefully this will make you feel better.

STAY!!! I COMMAND YOU!!! Well, someone has to rebuild the 'center', why not YOU??!! Shruti14 ( talkcontribs ) 21:54, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
I need sysop help, or it will be reverted, deleted, and protected! --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 21:56, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Hey Defender! There seems to be general consensus for it not to be rebuilt. Sorry mate. :( But on the bright side, it will mean you will be able to edit the encyclopedia more. :-| --Mschel 22:17, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
":|" is right! --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 11:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

The Purple Barnstar

The Purple Barntsar
You deserve this, after having faced pile on oppose and sudden deletion of a big portion of userspace. TomasBat 22:14, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Agree with above!! Shruti14 ( talkcontribs ) 22:35, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Rescue From Deletion Award

Rescue From Deletion Award
Though I´m awarding you for something that happened some time ago, I feel that I should show that I value your contributions, as well as tons of unknown people who read Misplaced Pages. So, here goes: I, TomasBat, award you, Defender 911, for rescuing from deletion the article Mars 2112, once again putting into practice what your username says. TomasBat 22:42, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Need help? Dial 911 and the defender will immediately come to assist you.
...:) Thanks. You've made me feel a lot better. We'll/I'll need to enlist the help of some admins to recreate the WikiResource Center. I will not allow it to go under again!! --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 23:01, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
What has been said above is the consensus is there is no need for a seperate resource center. You should focus your efforts on assisting the current ones. I really do think you would do great with AIV reporting and the such. WHy reinvent the wheel? Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 23:51, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Don't open old wounds please. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 00:08, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I can certainly give it a shot! I suppose it is somewhat obvious what it'll be for, but do you have an "official" rationale for awarding it yet? I'll let you know as soon as I have one ready. Hersfold 01:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I've got six versions worked up so far. If you like one of these, great, if not, give me some pointers and I can design something new. It won't be any trouble, this is something I rather enjoy doing. If you do choose one of these, I'll have that file moved to Commons and the rest deleted (no sense in having multiple versions if they're going to be orphaned). All versions use the Original Barnstar, I've just made it a different color so it looks different.
Note also that these are drafts - they'll work fine for displaying here, but if you were to open them up in Microsoft Paint, you'd notice a lot of garbage in the transparent bits. It's something to do with the way my version of Photoshop saves files, but I should be able to get rid of it in a final version. It doesn't affect how it displays on the Wiki, it just makes it a bit awkward when someone tries to save the file to their computer. Hersfold 03:58, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
No problem at all! Like I said, it's something I enjoy, and I'm quite flattered you came to me for it. As a note, I did tweak your award template a bit for consistency - There's only one parameter now for the message, but they can still have the original message you intended if they leave it blank. That's mainly so it doesn't confuse people when they go to use it. Thanks again, thank you for the barnstar, and as always, happy editing! Hersfold 13:48, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Help!!!

Your assistance needed!

Your assistance is requested, at the Administator Intervention Against Vandalism.

We need volunteers to combat vandalism by reporting vandals at the AIV so they can be blocked.

Please help keep Misplaced Pages free from vandalism and spam. Without the people reverting and reporting vandalism there would be no Misplaced Pages. Please help!

Hello

I've just realised who you are. I would suggest you avoid using your trademark grey boxes and creating pointless bureaucracy with yourself at the head. I won't bother linking your old userpage and the page where I listed all of it, but I suggest you focus on the encyclopedia now rather than attempts to grab power. That, and I'd suggest you get another account and not follow the same ill-guided footsteps as this and your previous account did. Daniel→♦ 10:23, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Let me get this straight...you want me to create a brand new username, password, and abandon all of the plans that I've had? Please stop trying to think, you'll hurt your brain. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 11:20, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
That was out of line. I apologize. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 11:25, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Friendly Reccomendation

Might I make a friendly reccomendation? Move on from the WRC. It is not going to come back and repeatadly changign your userpage and making it a shrine to your "fallen" center it not realy helping much at all. You are a tenacious editor so please use the tenacity to work on other areas of this project. Whether you choose to work with the rest of us or not is up to you however I ask that you move on from the wiki resource centers and remeber, wikipedia is not about heriarchial structures and anything you build with that system is likley to get deleted. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 13:59, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I suppose so, but at least go here. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 14:00, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Why would I endorse that? I respect you as an editor, but disagree strongly with the systems that you built. I really think you should completly move on. Turn a new page in your wiki life! Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 14:02, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
That was not directed at you (this is, though). I'm not saying, "Hey, you'd better agree with this." Your criticism is not very helpful. Criticism in this form is never helpful! It shut down months of work, provoked me to blank my page, and now I'm having this conversation with you. Don't laugh. I'm not laughing. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 16:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Your efforts were well founded however I liken them to somebody trying to pave there own road across the united states right beside an existing super hiway. This type of criticisim is important to the project, your reaction to the criticisim is what is not helpful. No matter where you go in life, there are chances that you will receivie criticisim. How you handle it is your job. Will you shut down and refuse to accept the well founded criticisim of your co editors? Or will you take it to heart and learn from it, and use it to become a better person? That is what I have left to see. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 17:03, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
I am fine with constructive criticism, and will probably take your advice, but all other opposition will be dealt with like the picture at right:
--Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 17:08, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
I sure hope that is not how you handle opposition! It would be a long rock road working on a wiki like that! Relax a little and oput the guns away. Sure, things get a little crazy now and then but that is part of life! Learn to adapt, take it in stride. That is a valuable commodity on this project. Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 17:29, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Hmmmm...I know just the thing for you!! --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 21:57, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

HEY DEFENDER911!!

Hopefully you're feeling better now and have decided to return to Misplaced Pages. I see you have returned. Just wanted to say hi. Shruti14 ( talkcontribs ) 19:39, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Contact with H

I need to get into contact with H. Do you know how? --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 23:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I do, but I'd like to respect his privacy. I could probably pass a message along if you'd like, no guarantees he'd respond. - CHAIRBOY () 23:57, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
If he wants to come back, then he will. No amount of coaxing will force him to return to a site on which he no longer feels safe. I suggest that you drop the matter. 68.217.109.220 23:58, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Chairboy has already indicated he will pass on a message if at all possible. If it's not too much to ask, could you possibly stop asking administrators to contact H until Chairboy has had a chance to deal with your request. H doesn't feel safe on Misplaced Pages so it may take a little while to contact him. Please give Chairboy a few days to deal with your request. Nick 00:05, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
I understand he is afraid about the threats made, but he has to understand that I'll be doing this for his benefit. --Defender 911 (Leave a message!) 00:07, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't doubt your intentions, but contacting a user that has left Misplaced Pages can be a slow, cumbersome process (I speak from experience here). Users often remove their e-mail address when they leave or don't check their e-mail account(s) as often, it may take several days for H just to read a message saying you're offering to help. It may be the case that their e-mail address is a work or university account they can't check over the weekend. Be prepared to not receive a response, resuming contact with former Wikipedians is generally unsuccessful, any response, even if it takes several days or even weeks is a benefit. I'm confident Chairboy is doing all he can to get in contact with H as quickly as is possible, however. Nick 00:16, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

I'd like to ask you to cease pursuing this matter. While I'm sure your efforts to track this editor down are well-intentioned, they are now becoming rather disruptive. H wanted a clean a break from Misplaced Pages - please respect that. WjBscribe 00:09, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Defender 911, this is the reason everyone opposed your crisis center or whatever it was. If a user wants to leave, then let them go. ~ Wikihermit 00:10, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
