Yes, I confirm that I have made an error in creating the page, so much so that I blanketed it immediately after creation. CSB
Hi, could you have the CSB add new copyvios to the bottom of the list at WP:SCV? That's how Wherebot does it. Thanks lots!! -- But|seriously|folks 18:39, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, just noticed it's transcluded in. I assume that's temporary until it has a bit of a track record. It's easier to work with WP:SCV if the entries are chronological and all written to the same page. But that can wait until the bot is fully tested. -- But|seriously|folks 18:41, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Coren, it did a really great job! Wherebot flags PD articles from .mil as well, so that's no problem. The tagging feature is great, because it gives the author an opportunity to rectify the situation before someone from WP:SCV even gets to it. I'm very impressed so far. Great job!! -- But|seriously|folks 21:04, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Oh ok you scared me for a sec ;). I was not around during the tests, I'm impressed by the tagging feature! Keep up the good work, I'm gonna strike that part of my comment. -- lucasbfr 23:23, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

The hard way
Yes, I just do it manually... not clever enough to do anything else! But I think your bot is doing great. I was a bit confused about what to do when the Corenbot has tagged something, so I'm glad you have been in touch. It didn't seem to put them into the CSD category and so I just decided put my own tag on too to do the deed. Maybe it is not necessary though??? --Slp1 02:14, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

List of Country performers by era
Interesting that your bot "perfomed a web search with the contents of List of Country performers by era, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.bandforum.info/links.php." That web page is actually a rip off of the Country music page on Misplaced Pages!! Tiles 04:19, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sometimes happen with circular copies; wikipedia and its (known) mirrors are excluded, but sometimes it misses some. — Coren 04:20, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Just as a side note, circular copies can help finding cut and paste moves, so perhaps you'd want not tagging the article but listing them with a comment when you find one. -- lucasbfr 13:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Making a bot is terrible
Making a bot is terrible, in my view, as it has the potential to be misused. I think that it should done away with. - (Numismaticman 08:07, 8 August 2007 (UTC))
- A bot is just tool. If some deletionist is chasing up the bot's actions and speedily and thoughlessly deleting articles, this is terrible. Could the bot finding copyright violations just inform the founding editor of the article, suggesting
- use various sources.
- acknowledge quotations (Use Blockquote).
- paraphrase rather than copy, using "encyclopaedic tone of voice".
- anything else that reduces the risk of accusations of plagiarism or legal claims.
- if no improvement after, say 48 hours, then place a warning tag. It would be terrible if WP gained a reputation for loosing copyright legal challenges!

List of Airports in Baja California Sur
About the "similarities" between this newly created page and the "List of airports in Puerto Rico", i have to inform that Baja California Sur is a mexican state, not puertorican, thus the cities and the airports are different. As an example of this statement, the airports of Los Cabos, La Paz and Loreto are south californian airports, while San Juan is a city in Puerto Rico, far far away from this North Western mexican state. --Omar1976 19:33, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

19th Division (German Empire)
Your bot flagged this article as similar to the page 10th Division (German Empire). They are different pages, but I am using similar templates to build each of the division pages, so they will often be similar to each other in structure, differing only in specific campaigns, subordinate units, and the like. I have removed the tag. Regards, Airbornelawyer 22:48, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Again. Your bot flagged 20th Division (German Empire) as also being similar to 10th Division (German Empire). If anything, since they were both part of the same corps and recruited from the same part of Germany, the 20th Division article is far more similar to the 19th Division article than either are to the 10th Division article. I don't know why your bot is flagging these, but not the other 30-40 articles I've written using essentially the same division template. Airbornelawyer 02:44, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- This is getting ridiculous. Now I get the same message for 21st Division (German Empire). This is the 46th article I have created or revised based on the same template for German divisions. Why all of the sudden is your bot bothering me? There will be approximately 251 Imperial German divisions following the template, with minor variations. I do not want to go through this annoyance 200 more times. Airbornelawyer 03:51, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Black Easter and The Day After Judgment are distinct pages
Just for the record, I am working on building a page for The Day After Judgment. This page currently shares a lot of the text from Black Easter because it is the sequel novel to that book. Right now, Black Easter has the synopsis for both books, and I thought it was useful to have essentially the same information on the other page because the two books are extremely closely related, and sometimes even published together.
However, there is an IMPORTANT difference. Each book cites a different set of Grimoires, and as Blish makes a big deal about the authenticity of these books, I wanted to create complete, accurate, and DISTINCT lists of these books. If there are other important ways to distinguish these pages, I hope you can help me to find them. For my purposes, preserving the lists seperately is very important. Bot behavior when splitting off material
Hi. I was doing disambiguation cleanup work on the disambiguation page Locality and had to split off material to a new wiki article (Locality (statistics)) because it had gotten too long and detailed for a dab page. It then took a few more moments to clean up the rest of the dab page when your bot had already alerted me that Locality (statistics) is almost identical to the current (not yet saved) Locality. Could your program your bot to wait a few minutes before it notifies users of similiar wikipedia articles (in the case that there is splitting off going on)? Thanks (or at least you know of the problem now). :-) – sgeureka 20:57, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

A similar situation to Sgeureka's split of Locality (statistics). No problem, I understand. I am doing a huge amount of these, moving lists of people off disambig pages to their own surname or given name articles. You may want to consider informing the bot that Sgeureka and I are experienced disambig-page-splitters, and have it disregard changes made by us, at least if the apparent duplicate is within Misplaced Pages. As for your suggestion to save the split-from page first, I prefer to save the split-to page first, as I would rather have to remove a tag than have a reader find a red link where the new article's blue link should be.
