How can you say that we are spamming when we are linking to the most educating tutorials on the Internet related to faux painting techniques? Do you realize that the majority of external links are part of Websites that sell a product or service? Please explain why I can't link to this: http://fauxlikeapro.com/learn.asp

It has free tutorials for all to see ... I await your reply.

DC Meetup notice

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Misplaced Pages meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians in the District of Columbia, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices (like this one), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page. --Gmaxwell 16:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Apologize

I sincerely apologize for the action. The site smartken.com hosts information on a variety of topics, including interior decoration. The link was added in the external links as a means to route someone interested in some more information on interior decoration.

Nonetheless, I promise that if I add a link back to smartken.com in the external links, it will be preceded by rich and relevant content in the Wiki pages. I dont intend to spam, and I apologize for the action.

Please clarify

This is with reference to your removing the external link: http://makemyhome.blogspot.com/2007/07/bedroom-design-decorating-furniture.html

Please clarify how my adding a link in external links in interior decoration was a violations to the wiki rule. I studied all the rule links you gave me but had not found myself being in any violation. The link gives a very much to the point, specific information about decorating rooms, which obviously was not covered in that article. I respect wikipedia very much, and follow its rules.

Please visit the said pages of the website and check the content there! Which is very much specific for the users point of view, without making him/her giving theoretical data the content highlights the measures to achieve the said topic in clear terms.

Please Add the link back or give me the permission to do so.

If still you think that it was a violation please state those rules to me (not any links) but the rules listed.

Please look in to the issue.

Localities

What sources did you rely upon to distinguish between "Communities" and "Localities" in Template:Prince George's County, Maryland? AFAIK, these two terms are essentially synonymous. --Russ (talk) 10:46, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

(edited on 8/8/2007) As for "Communities" and "Localities," I relied on information from the Unincorporated places subsection of the Prince George's County, Maryland article. From what I can infer (and from my familiarity with PG county), "community" is recognized as a neighborhood or subdivision by the PG County government and/or U.S. Census Bureau for political or administrative purposes. A "locality" (i.e., locale), on the other hand, is recognized by residents as a location of some significance in the county. For example, Muirkirk, Maryland - a wikilinked locality from that page, is recognized as the location of a transportation stop on the MARC rail commuter line.
The other "locality" -- Chapel Oaks (ZIP Code 20743) is actually a neighborhood near the Washington, DC city line in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Chapel Oaks is significant from the county historical perspective (esp. during Jim Crow times) as the location of a volunteer fire department staffed and run by African Americans since the mid-20th century.
Peace Cross, a frequently mentioned area (i.e., we (people I know) used to say "around the Peace Cross") and landmark that is a large, stone cross mounted in the center of a roundabout or traffic circle (trying here to rely on my memory of the area from >30 years ago) in Bladensburg, Maryland, is another example of a "locality" in PG County. I remember the Peace Cross very well when the locale was mentioned frequently as a reference during traffic reports broadcast on black radio stations during mid-1960s (on 1340 WOOK-AM) and throughout the 1970s.
About "West Hyattsville" -- Although "West Hyattsville" is listed as an "unincorporated community," I know it only as an actual stop on the Metrorail Green Line -- never heard of "West Hyattsville" as a recognized community that's separate from "Hyattsville" (I personally think "West Hyattsville" is a candidate for removal from the list). I'd have to check with my sister, who lives in Hyattsville and occasionally takes the Metro to work from West Hyattsville station.
So, I used what was already on the list of communities on the Prince George's County page for the template, without changing what someone else had already provided in the PG County article. Lwalt 19:41, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
