Don Murphy is an American film producer.

History

In 1992 Murphy formed JD Productions in Los Angeles with Jane Hamsher. The early days of the company are documented in her book KILLER INSTINCT. After some start up work they produced a string of films including Natural Born Killers, Apt Pupil, Permanent Midnight, and From Hell. In 1998, the company broke up and Murphy formed his own company, Angry Films, which beginning with The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has become a "prolific" production office, with numerous films in various stages of production as of 2007, including Shoot 'em Up with Clive Owen and Torso, a David Fincher film, as well as While She Was Out with Kim Basinger, written and directed by his spouse Susan Montford, and others. Murphy also played a key role in getting Disney to develop a live action version of Kiki's Delivery Service. He is the originating producer of the Transformers film. As of 2005, Murphy's AngryFilms was set to produce an adaptation of We3, a Vertigo Comics miniseries, for New Line Cinema; Susan Montford and Rick Benattar are also named in Variety reports.
