The Classic Crime |
---|
The Classic Crime is a Indie rock band from Seattle, Washington; although, they are originally from Bellingham, Washington, Seattle is a more easily recognised city, and is used as their "home base." They are currently signed to Tooth and Nail Records. Their debut album Albatross was released on May 23, 2006. They stated on myspace that they were busy recording a new album. They have toured with bands such as Mest, Allister, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Anberlin, Emery, Quietdrive, A Static Lullaby, So They Say, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, MxPx, Powerspace, , Sullivan and Just Surrender.
About The Band
The genre of the band can be seen as a mixture of Emo rock, Punk Rock and Post-Hardcore, although the Screamo genre can sometimes be distinguished in a variety of the bands songs. The band consists of Matt MacDonald (vocals), Alan Clark (bass), Robbie "Cheeze" Negrin (guitar), Paul Erickson (drums), and Justin Duque (guitar). Repeated themes in their lyrics are failure, determination, fighting despite all odds, fire and phoenixes, the sea, freedom, rejection, and living life to the fullest extent. Some bands that The Classic Crime claim as influences are the heavy metal music bands they grow up listening to and some bands of today like Thrice, Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, Third Eye Blind, Jimmy Eat World, Alien Ant Farm, Brand New,and Switchfoot. There has been much discussion among many of the fans through the Christian outlook of their songs and their appearance as a Christian Rock band. But after much deilberation and the justification from a recent interview, the band claims to be one of the few bands on the Tooth & Nail roster that does not want to be considered a Christian band.
