Vartan, may I borrow your uhmm Things and use it on my talk pages? DenizC 04:13, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Sure, but I would suggest coping the original from Hiberniantears . Mine is a little trimmed down, and still work in progress. I might add links that might be useless to you. VartanM 04:19, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Editing restrictions

I've removed your name from the list of users placed under editing supervision per kiril's clarification. I think a lot of administrators interpreted the remedy as being for incivility or edit warring, so I'm going to have to take a look at the whole list and see if there are any others that shouldn't be on there. Sorry for any inconvenience, Ryan Postlethwaite 11:22, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to wish my fellow Wikipedians a Happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles 17:01, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Watermark

Thanks. (: Should be fine legally, since PD images are free to be cropped, resized, retouched, etc. Basically like the photographic equivalent of a park. Octane 22.11.07 2349 (UTC)

Cool!

Hey, Thanks Vartan, I'm am truly honored. ♫ Cricket02 01:54, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Don't mention it, I wanted to give you one for a long time. You deserve it. VartanM 00:28, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Nagorno Karabakh: Monuments of History, Architecture and Art

Hi Vartan. I was contacted by user Bassenius who has recently been blocked through malicious sock Gransmister or something. Please help him to unblock. His latest participation was in the new article started by Verjakette was Nagorno Karabakh: Monuments of History, Architecture and Art. He is mistakenly identified as Verjakette's sockpuppet. Thanks in advance. Vishap 04:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Your custom "checkuser"

Greetings VartanM, I too am a bit suspicious of the blocks of Bassenius and Verjakette. Depending on the results of your "checkuser", I would be happy to add my support for the removal of their blocks (along with diffs that I can provide) if you choose to take their case to the blocking admin. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 02:34, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi PocoX4, thanks for your support. Checkuser confirmed that Bassenius and Verjakette were the same user or at least used the same IP. But its not definite that they were Artaxiad. And the fact that an Artaxiad sleeper sock account was confirmed and blocked is a good evidence that they are not the same user. In any case as soon as I make sure that they are not socks I will let you know and I'm sure we could get an unblock. Previously, users were given second chances for using more then one account. VartanM (talk) 22:16, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
I have posted my evidence in your sandbox.Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 02:16, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

These things are always messy, and it is sad to see someone who had useful contributions tossed aside because they were using socks. Due to CU, Bassenius, Verjakette, Hnarakert, and Vishap are all likely to be the same person, which means actions like writing Nagorno Karabakh: Monuments of History, Architecture and Art from two accounts makes them very likely to play other games that undermine building an encyclopedia in a collaborative fashion.

As these are new users, and perhaps the biggest problem is they underestimated the seriousness of enwiki, I would like to offer these users a way to rejoin the ranks here sooner.

If any of these banned users want to create an account on the English Wikisource, and constructively contribute there, I will unblock them here on enwiki and place them on 1RR parole for a few months. I would need to request a CU on Wikisource to ensure that they have only operated a single account on English Wikisource, but I would hope that it would only be a formality. I would be keeping an eye on the user, and you could assist with any language barriers, and if I feel they have shown they can interact peacefully with others on wikisource, I think it is fair that we consider them a reformed user and allow them back into Misplaced Pages. Everyone deserves a second chance.

To give you some sort of idea of the thresholds, I am thinking that somewhere between 200 - 500 new pages would be sufficient to demonstrate that they are committed to our objectives. There are many websites that have already faithful digitised PD documents, so it is often only a matter of copying and pasting. The pages do not need to be "uncontroversial" - they only need to have appeared in English in hard copy that are no longer copyright, and the pages are accurately transcribed. As a result, these can be documents about Armenia that are of relevance to the development of topics here on Misplaced Pages. This gives the banned users an opportunity to have a user/talk page on Wikisource as a way to interact with the Misplaced Pages folk, and usefully contribute by helping bring harder to access sources online.

Do you think an opportunity such as this would be of interest to any of the current banned users? John Vandenberg (talk) 04:20, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Dear John, I can not speak for them. You are welcome to invite them to Wikisource. I would like to see more users contributing in all of the sister projects. VartanM (talk) 05:01, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
The Verjakette accounts all have their email disabled. I have left a note on User talk:Verjakette. If you know of anyone else that might be willing to take up this offer, I can be contacted by email. John Vandenberg (talk) 07:13, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Re:Images on Marines.mil

Hi Vartan. Many thanks for the link. It seems to be very useful. Cheers,--Kober 18:20, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Shamakhi

Hi Vartan. Could you please provide the full context of the quote about the city? From what you provided it is not clear that the quote relates to the city of Shemakhi. You may even wish to upload the text to wikisource to make it accessible to everyone, as it appears to be PD. Thanks. Grandmaster (talk) 10:24, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Replied on the talkpage of the article. VartanM (talk) 18:06, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Karl Marx

On the page Karl Marx there is an error, at the beginning the article says he died on the 15th and in the death and legacy part it says he died on the 14th.

just wanted to point that out —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.227.117.32 (talk) 00:45, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

And you're telling me because? I don't think I ever edited that article. VartanM (talk) 00:50, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

"Book"

Hi. (No pun intended ...) Inch beses? Can you help me out? An anonymous editor made a change to Arabic language, claiming that the Arabic word "kitab" (book) is used in Armenian. Is this true? Thanks. Cbdorsett (talk) 12:11, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Artsah

Thanks VartanM, I will read it and get familiar, also will ignore Atabek and alike in the future. Steelmate (talk) 22:42, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Lacin

VartanM, could you please put Armenian script in Lacin, I was asked by Pocopocopocopoco to do it but I am not proficient in Armenian language enough. Thanks. Steelmate (talk) 03:27, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Ethnic attacks

VartanM, attacking Aseris as nation being bazaar IMHO is not the most productive method for stating Armenian point of view, as they lead nowhere... please refer to a specific person (Atabek?), and even then refer to what the person did instead of what kind of person he is. I know I made same mistakes by referring to Atabek as illogical person, I should have said Atabek's behavior is that of an illogical person. Whoooph... but hey that way we can have more productive collaboration overall! Steelmate (talk) 19:29, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind, I should have followed the advise that I gave you. VartanM (talk) 19:33, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
