If you wish to engage in civil and good faith discussions about the article content, I encourage you to participate. However, simply trying to intimidate other editors away from participation, (especially considering that your comments are directed at me, and I've had very little participation in that topic for weeks) could be seen as a violation of your sanctions. As I quote from the "Civility parole" section: "''If you make any edits which are judged by an administrator to be uncivil, personal attacks, or assumptions of bad faith, then you may be blocked for a short time of up to one week for repeat offenses.''" Ararat arev

It seems he broke the 3RR on this too. Haik Nareklm 20:22, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Haik page cited sources

Eupator, what info do you need for the "Haik is used in place of Orion, in the Armenian translation of the Bible." Do you need it so have the cited source "Bible verses: Job 9:9, Job 38:22, Amos 5:7," or what else you need the date of the bible? The version of the bibles of Armenian and English to show that it is really Haik in Armenian, and Orion in English of those "verses" ? So what info you need for the source Ararat arev 22:43, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

So the Bible is not a reliable source? Ararat arev 23:03, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Someone can look at the Bible and see that, specially when they are Armenian reading both languages. You can even check now you read Armenian? Ararat arev 23:04, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Ok, so Vahan Kurkjian mentioned it? Good. Dont worry about the Sumerian issues. I'll get reliable sources when I find them, and discuss first in Talk pages dont worry. Ararat arev 23:32, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Make sure to put in the Orion_constellation|Orion link. Vahan also states its the Orion star constellation Ararat arev 23:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Vahan Kurkjian mentioned as you said the location of Mitanni in Armenia. Also, look how far Persians and Indians are now? The Indo-Aryan people that is. Sanskrit is also Proto-IE.Ararat arev 01:54, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Dacy69

Hello again Eupator. Dacy69 has called for me to look into the current editing of Urartu, which I will do. He has also mentioned that he feels he is being stalked. It does strike me that he has a point when you follow his comment on my talk page with a comment of your own. You are an experienced and valued editor on Misplaced Pages, yet you do appear to be getting a little too personal and emotional in regard to Dacy69 and his editing. It doesn't look good for you when you present evidence of wikistalking at the time when an editor is complaining about such activity! Stay cool. Concentrate on the article, and let the appropriate Wikipedians take care of complaints. I would strongly advise you to take care in your dealings with editors with whom you are in dispute. Remain civil. And do not pounce on comments they make on other's talk pages. I'll now be looking at the recent edits made to the Urartu article. Regards. SilkTork 08:38, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Urartu

I am working my way through the recent edits of the Urartu article. I find your 15th January edit of the article inappropriate. You are introducing a heavy weighted and unfounded political debate and inappropriate language history into a section of the article that is dealing with Ethnic Composition. Given the recent edit dispute with this article, and my own involvement as Advocate, this is a provocative thing to do. SilkTork 19:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

AMA

Just to let you know I will be helping in the dispute you are in. Do you know the policy Misplaced Pages:Ownership_of_articles? I feel as if you think you own the article and you don't want anyone else editing it, am I right? If I am right then you are breaking this policy. Also if you reverted his edits without looking at them like he said then you are sending the message that you do not care about what he rights. Assume good faith, even if he is wrong assume that he is doing for the good of wikipedia. You should Stay away from deleting info if it talkes about trying not to delete info with Verifiable and a Reliable source. Also I would like you to look at Misplaced Pages:Resolving disputes. Have a nice week and god bless. --James, La gloria è a dio 15:04, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Prohaeresius

  • Prohaeresius needed just a little Wikification (mostly just paragraph breaks); I gave it such and moved it to DYK next update. It's a very good article and I enjoyed reading it.
  • The problem with using the term "Zakarid-Mxargrzeli" rather than "Mkhargrdzeli" in the Ani article is that the later term has a reference in the Ani article, the former doesn't. You did a great job with references in the Prohaeresius article...just do the same with this edit and it will be good. Thanks, House of Scandal 04:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

....speaking of which

Updated DYK query On January 19, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Prohaeresius, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

As you set out for Ithaka, hope the voyage is long
Knowledge is your destiny, but don't ever hurry the journey
May there be many summer mornings when
With what pleasure and joy, you come into harbors seen for the first time

Don't expect Ithaka to make you rich. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey
And, if I, one of your fellow-travellers, can offer something
To make this journey of yours even more fascinating and enjoyable
This is my assistance with anything I can help.

Eupator, please refrain from reverting back to Golbez's biased intro without consulting the archivs first, if you did you would see that that was not the intro we all agreed upon (just look at how the "Armenian region" is completely taken out of context and causes that sentence to take on a one-sided POV, no one ever agreed to that).HyeProfile 00:17, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Location Maps

On the WikiProject Countries talk page, you had either explictly declared a general interest in the project, or had participated at a discussion that appears related to Location Maps for European countries.
New maps had been created by David Liuzzo, and are available for the countries of the European continent, and for countries of the European Union exist in two versions. From November 16, 2006 till January 31, 2007, a poll had tried to find a consensus for usage of 'old' or of which and where 'new' version maps. At its closing, 25 people had spoken in favor of either of the two presented usages of new versions but neither version had reached a consensus (12 and 13), and 18 had preferred old maps.
As this outcome cannot justify reverting of new maps that had become used for some countries, seconds before February 5, 2007 a survey started that will be closed at February 20, 2007 23:59:59. It should establish whether the new style maps may be applied as soon as some might become available for countries outside the European continent (or such to depend on future discussions), and also which new version should be applied for which countries.
Please note that since January 1, 2007 all new maps became updated by David Liuzzo (including a world locator, enlarged cut-out for small countries) and as of February 4, 2007 the restricted licence that had jeopardized their availability on Wikimedia Commons, became more free. The subsections on the talk page that had shown David Liuzzo's original maps, now show his most recent design.
Please read the discussion (also in other sections α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ) and in particular the arguments offered by the forementioned poll, while realizing some comments to have been made prior to updating the maps, and all prior to modifying the licences, before carefully reading the presentation of the currently open survey. You are invited to only then finally make up your mind and vote for only one option.
There mustnot be 'oppose' votes; if none of the options would be appreciated, you could vote for the option you might with some effort find least difficult to live with - rather like elections only allowing to vote for one of several candidates. Obviously, you are most welcome to leave a brief argumentation with your vote. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 7 Feb2007 20:10 (UTC)

Armenians

I understood your point but I also said that since you show Nagorno-Karabakh as a separate entity on that list, you already automatically imply that it is de facto independent. Reference to Azerbaijan must be made because the status of Nagorno-Karabakh is different from that of Russia, France, Iran or Lebanon, which are mentioned concurrently. Since it is not possible for Azerbaijan to appear on that list, some credit to it must be given; you cannot disregard it completely unless Nagorno-Karabakh is officially independent. As for the category, I don't see why you have to attach any footnotes to it. Even if you don't agree with it in terms of the NK issue, some Armenians still live in Azerbaijan outside of NK, thus the category seems perfectly suitable. Parishan 20:12, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

That footnote is more apt when you add the category, rather than when you remove it. It makes much more sense to show 'Ethnic groups in Azerbaijan' and to add that according to Nationmaster.com:Azerbaijan "almost all Armenians live in the separatist Nagorno-Karabakh region". And the footnote does not cover the de facto vs. de juro issue at all. Parishan 20:24, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
You haven't given any reasonable justification why the 'Ethnic groups in Azerbaijan' category shouldn't be shown. Why is there "no way"? Like I said, that category covers Nagorno-Karabakh, and the footnote as well as the infobox clearly explain that when one speaks of Armenians in Azerbaijan, it's mostly de facto independent Nagorno-Karabakh that is concerned. Parishan 21:07, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
The whole current status information is right on display, in the infobox. Besides, sources like CIA, Nationmaster and even Misplaced Pages itself list Armenians among ethnic groups that live in Azerbaijan. I don't understand how this shouldn't be the case with the Armenians article. Parishan 21:32, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Your recent spate of edit warring today is unacceptable. Three reverts at both Tigranes the Great and Nakhichevan and more at Urartu, plus uncivil accusations of vandalism , are unproductive. Fair use rationale for Image:Uliss Erevan.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Uliss Erevan.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:26, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Skewerediskhan.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Skewerediskhan.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:22, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:YBC logo.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:YBC logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 12:20, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Vector-images.com image warning

Greetings, You are being contacted by BetacommandBot and by Zscout370. The reason for this message is that you have have uploaded Image:YerevanRusCOA.gif under the following license Template:Vector-images.com. Recently, a decision was made about images and anything not meeting freedomdefined.org will be considered "unfree" for Wikimedia's purposes. The terms of the website do not allow their images to be used now under our new guidelines. You are being given a chance to relicense the image for about two weeks. If you fail to relicense the image, there is a good chance the image will be deleted from Misplaced Pages. If you have any questions or concern, please see Zscout370. Thank you. Replaceable fair use Image:Gata.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Gata.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 12:46, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Requests for arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan 2 Closed

The case in which you were involved in was closed. According to the records, you were placed on revert parole (now called revert limitations), and as such, you are affected by this remedy, which places you on supervised editing. You may be banned by any administrator from editing any or all articles which relate to the region of Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran and the ethnic and historical issues related to that area should you fail to maintain a reasonable degree of civility in your interactions with another editor concerning disputes which may arise.

You may view the full decision at the case page here.

Image source problem with Image:Am chur.gif

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Am chur.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Misplaced Pages:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:42, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Armenian Genocide - Armeniapedia link being attacked

Folks, it seems the integrity of Armeniapedia as a valid source is under attack on the Armenian Genocide article. One Turk simply questioned it, and the very same day another user immediately removed it without any discussion. Now these 3 are preventing the reversion to add the link, which as I state there has possibly the largest collection of digital documents on the genocide. It's amazing to me, and I hope some of you are actually around to vouch for the site, as these folks don't seem to have actually even visited the site, or really care if it's of any value, instead asking irrelevant questions like, "what if there was a Turkopedia, would we include that??". Your input would be appreciated. --RaffiKojian 17:15, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Franco-Mongol alliance

Thank you Eupator for the Barnstar! I truly appreciate! You are probably right that the Delaborde painting belongs to Gosdantin III of Armenia. You are also right for the translation of the title: "Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem Restoring Religion in Armenia in 1347", but according to Mutafian, this seems to be derived from a 19th century mis-interpretation of a 1347 Papal bulle. Best regards. PHG 20:12, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Erm, Eupator, please be aware that much of the information in the Franco-Mongol alliance article is under dispute, multiple editors have criticized PHG for biased editing and for violating WP:OWN (just check the talkpage), there have been multiple WP:ANI threads about it, and that the article is currently subject to an active Mediation. That said, I do agree that PHG has done quite a bit of good work on the article, and it is of course up to you or not as to whether or not you wish to hand out barnstars. Just wanted to make you aware.  :) --Elonka 20:53, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Indo-Greek kingdom

Hi Eupator. As you seem to have interest for topics about cultural interaction, for your information, the FA article on the Indo-Greek kingdom is under FA review. You may leave comments and vote at Misplaced Pages:Featured article review/Indo-Greek Kingdom. PHG (talk) 18:28, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Armenian history

Sure, why not? I'd have to scout around for a few more sources but I do have Hovannisian and Grousset to hand (Grousset is old but still useful if handled with care - he sums up the accounts of classical Greek, Roman, Armenian etc. historians quite nicely). So I can at least take part in a basic clean-up. Oh, and I'm not Cornish. I don't really mind Queen Teuta of Illyria either. Most of those userboxes are just parodies of things I've seen around Misplaced Pages. --Folantin (talk) 21:43, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

PS:I've just seen you've mentioned FA. I have my doubts about the FA process but I'd be happy to help out improving an article with you. Do you have any ideas yourself? Ancient to late medieval would be a good area. Nothing too early (certainly not Urartu!). --Folantin (talk) 21:45, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
OK, let's do Cilicia first, then Tigranes, then maybe a Bagratid (hmm, Ashot the Great? But let's wait and see). I also have plans to rewrite the article about Armenia and the various Persian Empires more thoroughly, but not until early next year. Cheers. --Folantin (talk) 08:31, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I suggest we make any comments we have about improvement on the talk page of the Cilicia article rather than here. --Folantin (talk) 09:00, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
NB: If you don't see any action from me on Cilicia for a few days, it's just that I'm re-reading the sources I have available. --Folantin (talk) 19:28, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Apologies for not getting round to this (still). It'll probably be early January before I tackle it since I'll be having a break from WP for the next few weeks - give or take a few edits. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. --Folantin (talk) 19:37, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Elonka 3

Thank you for your participation in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate that landed on WP:100, but ultimately was deemed a successful declaration of consensus, and I am now an administrator. I paid close attention to everything that was said in the debate, and where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better admin. I am going to take things slowly for now -- I'm working my way through the Misplaced Pages:New admin school, double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. I sincerely doubt you'll see anything controversial coming from my new access level. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, though I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are a few more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status. If you do ever have any concerns about my activities as an administrator, I encourage you to let me know. My door is always open. --Elonka 02:30, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Anatolian History timeline infobox addition and help

Thank you for your contribution to my infobox. I see that you are an excellent editor and one who is very familiar with Armenian history. I would very much appreciate any additions you might have in the future. Thank you! Monsieurdl 00:12, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Ravished-armenia1.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ravished-armenia1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Elonka

Thank you Eupator for your support on the Franco-Mongol alliance page. I really appreciate. I finally resolved to file a claim against Elonka's aggresive actions. It is at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Harassment by User:Elonka. Comments are welcome. Regards. PHG (talk) 13:47, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Eupator, just as a reminder, please remember that you are under sanctions concerning Armenia-related articles, of which the article on Franco-Mongol alliance definitely applies. If you wish to engage in civil and good faith discussions about the article content, I encourage you to participate. However, simply trying to intimidate other editors away from participation, (especially considering that your comments are directed at me, and I've had very little participation in that topic for weeks) could be seen as a violation of your sanctions. As I quote from the "Civility parole" section: "If you make any edits which are judged by an administrator to be uncivil, personal attacks, or assumptions of bad faith, then you may be blocked for a short time of up to one week for repeat offenses." Please be more careful in the future. --Elonka 20:03, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
