Expert editors
I am a professional biographer, specializing in biographies of obscure persons of local historical note, as such I claim qualification as an Expert Editor on matters of Local History and Biography. Let me quote the No original research page: '"No original research" does not prohibit experts on a specific topic from adding their knowledge to Misplaced Pages. On the contrary, Misplaced Pages welcomes the contributions of experts, as long as their knowledge is verifiable. We assume, however, that someone is an expert not only because of their personal and direct knowledge of a topic, but also because of their knowledge of published sources on a topic. This policy prohibits expert editors from drawing on their personal and direct knowledge if such knowledge is unverifiable. If an expert editor has published the results of his or her research elsewhere, in a reputable publication, the editor can cite that source while writing in the third person and complying with our NPOV policy. They must cite reliable, third-party publications and may not use their unpublished knowledge, which would be impossible to verify. We hope expert editors will draw on their knowledge of published sources to enrich our articles, bearing in mind that specialists do not occupy a privileged position within Misplaced Pages.' Vandalism
A user can blank their own talk page, see: Vandalism? from which I quote: " It is generally recognized that the user of a talk page has the right to blank it. (Deliberate repeated deletion of requests, such as of requests to be civil, is not vandalism. It is only WP:DICK.) "
And furthermore this: User Talk is Not Article Talk from which I quote: "Many users, including admins and at least two arbitrators, routinely remove comments from their Talk pages, and advertise this." At this point he quotes User talk:Neutrality which states "I archive when I feel like it. Depending on my whim, your comments may or may not be archived. The odds of not being archived are inversely proportional to the amount you annoy me. Please do not annoy me."
And again this: xxx
Per these statements, I am removing any "outside comment" from my talk page that I don't like as wiki policy (see Wiki:Vandalism) states quite clearly that a user "may remove any outside comment from their own talk pages at their OWN discretion" (added emphasis). Timothy Boham
Hi, a of what Justiceleague1 is saying about Donna Thomas seems to be personal. Thomas is Boham's legal advocate. One of his public defender's is Eric Zale, Thomas routinly talks to Zale, and provides information to him. Also Justice keeps bringing up other cases that Thomas is working on, that has nothing to do with Boham so why does she bring it up? Thomas was on a PBS Show in March 07 with Boham's mother called Colorado Outspoken, the moderator of the show is named Darrell Johnson (303)832-7389 the producer of the show has a signed copy of the legal retainer agreement that is signed by Boham and Thomas, thanks!

Barnstar Mockery
On May 7th of this year, at 14:37, the user page User:Dr Spam (MD) was created. Within a period of 48 hours, User:Dr Spam (MD) had placed approximately 55 barnstars on user pages and user talk pages. Many recipients doubted the sincerity of the sentiments behind these barnstars, in part because of the comments placed by Dr Spam on the barnstars. A sampling of the reasons that Dr. Spam offered for presenting barnstars to editors:
- Hi - I am putting this here in case there's trouble later. Please accept this tireless barnstar thing for all of your wiki-activity. Thanks. User:Dr Spam (MD) 16:08, 11 May 2007
- nice one! User:Dr Spam (MD) 16:51, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hi I am leaving you with this barnstar for you to reflect carefully on. I will provide the citation in a few days once you have had the opportunity to consider why I might think that you deserve it. Peace User:Dr Spam (MD) 16:50, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well done for all of your fantastic editing / writing: you are obviously a genius of our day, shining like the brightest barnstar against a dark barnnight in these new and difficult wiki-times. I therefore award you the surreal barnstar (I can't get the other barnstars to work properly - my apologies.) Please note that you have no right to remove the barnstar, for it is sacred. LEAVE WELL ALONE! Many thanks.
- awesome contribution to this web site! have a lovely barnstar thing User:Dr Spam (MD) 12:01, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- cool editing
- Awesome
- Cool.
- I am awarding you a surreal barnstar because you obviously deserve it! Keep up the good work - don't slacken off, it'll get harder before it gets easier!
- Hy my cat (the fat white one) is awarding you this barnstar of diligence because he doesn't eat fish either. He just likes to eat biscuits - or so he says. But how then does he get so fat????
Occasionally Dr. Spam's comments did appear sincere (if vague), but a review of the record indicates that sincere-appearing comments were generally generated during a massive cut-and-paste session. There were also many barnstars presented with no comments at all, and even more that User:Dr Spam (MD) presented without signing his name to indicate from whom the award was coming. And some barnstars, praising the editing skills of the recipient, were awarded to editors with one solitary edit to their name.
In response, once this pattern of apparent insincerity was established, a few experienced editors asked Dr. Spam to desist from barnstar spamming, in the belief that randomly awarding barnstars devalues the entire barnstar program. (Indeed, so random was the placement of barnstars, that some were even placed on wiki accounts that had not been active for over a year.) Dr. Spam has now stopped, presumably recognizing that his efforts were not appreciated by the majority of editors.
Most of the barnstars placed by Dr. Spam during his May campaign have been voluntarily removed by the editors on whose pages they were placed. You are receiving this notice because Dr. Spam's barnstar still remains on your page. If you feel that Dr. Spam's barnstar spamming was a form of mockery, you may choose to remove it yourself. But if the way this barnstar was "awarded" does not bother you, you are of course free to keep it on your page. After all, it is your page. This notification was simply for your information. SBS membership renewal request—Project in great need of contributors
The summer has passed (unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere), and for most people holidays are over. Therefore, it is time for work again. Not that work ever stops in Misplaced Pages, but I believe we can at last get over the stage when slow progress can be taken for granted. Like yourself, most members of WikiProject Succession Box Standardization have been away during most of the summer (and some of you have been away for much longer); this lack of contributors has almost led SBS activity to a standstill.
A couple of members have stayed, however, and things have greatly improved in the project. There is a renovated and functional main page; the talk page has organised archives and a dedicated page for archived proposals; the Guidelines page is in a very good shape and I am preparing a further set of guidelines to be proposed for adoption by the project and incorporation into the page; the Documentation page has been again updated and a potential restructuring is being planned; the Templates list is the operations centre for the ongoing removal of antiquated and redundant templates. The Offices page is the only one that has yet to be improved, but there is a proposal for that one as well. Even a new SBS navbox has been created and added to the project's pages, easing navigation between the different parts of the WikiProject, while shortcuts have been created for the three most basic pages.
And the project itself is not the only thing that has been improved; the headers system has been cleared up and rationalised during the last six months, and a new parameter system is being inserted into templates like s-new and s-vac in order to successfully adapt succession boxes to more tricky cases of succession without large, clumsy cells or redundant reasoning. S-hou has also been improved and /doc pages have been added to most of the headers' pages, as well as to many proper succession templates' ones.
Despite all these breakthroughs that have made SBS a better, more functional and more user-friendly WikiProject, things move excruciatingly slowly as far as the adoption of proposals and correction/improvement of succession boxes in the mainspace are concerned. As has been mentioned, this is due to the utter absence of all but two of its members. I completely understand that a few of them might be unwilling to resume work in SBS, and some of them might even have left Misplaced Pages altogether. However, we are certain that there are people intent to continue improving Misplaced Pages's succession boxes and helping others to do so as well. If you are one of them, please return. And even if you cannot help at the moment, but want to contribute at a later time, please let us know by renewing your membership. You can do that very easily by removing the asterisk next to your name in the member list in SBS's main page. The deadline is 31 October; members that do not renew their memberships until 23:59 of that day will be removed from the list, as these members will be assumed to have left the project for good.
SBS is a project highly capable of doing some serious work in Misplaced Pages. These potentials are seriously undermined by the unavailability of helpful hands. I hope you shall consider this message seriously before taking any decisions.
Thank you for your time. Waltham, The Duke of 14:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Better Things to Do Than This?
Mr. Wjhonson,
I'm a bit surprised at some of the recent edits you made to this article (below):
http://en.wikipedia.org/Timothy_J._Boham
Removing material doesn't make this a better article.
Likewise, I'm disappointed that the Matt Sanchez article has basically become the 'Matt Sanchez' blog, and factual references to his escorting services have been removed.
I believe we can 'work together' rather than engage in 'friendly fire' in these endeavors.Ryoung122 08:10, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Urgent request-Comment on Article for Deletion
Hi there - Thank you for your participation in the Bluemarine request for comment. On a related, but broader note, I thought perhaps you'd like to comment on the proposed deletion of a proposed "Dubious Sources" category? This isn't discussed as it should be within Misplaced Pages, in my opinion.Typing Monkey - 03:49, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Recent Controversy over Matt Sanchez
Wjhonson,
Any idea who the recent editor was that was 'banned' from the Matt Sanchez article? Also, I'm beginning to shift my personal thoughts on this. I don't think that User:BlueMarine should be permanently banned. It's better to err on the side of freedom of expression. To me, the worst possible outcome of the Matt Sanchez article is a sanitized version that deletes any/all references to the controversies which made Sanchez 'famous' in the first place.Ryoung122 09:19, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. AfD nomination of Paramount hotel
I have nominated Paramount hotel, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Paramount hotel. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Noetic Sage 02:19, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Paramount hotel
A tag has been placed on Paramount hotel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Master of Puppets 04:55, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Referencing and web sites requiring a fee
I believe you are fundamentally misinterpreting/misapplying the guidlines by removing references to sites which require subscription (as for example on Gore Baronets. Per WP:EL, such sites should not be listed in an "External links" section of an article, but that policy does not apply to references, where the only thing that matters is whether or not a site is a reliable source. If this were not the case, we would have great difficulty in providing online references to sources such as the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, New Grove etc etc.. WP:EL applies only to links which are not being used as cites/references, "The subject of this guideline is external links that are not citations of article sources." I have again restored the links to Gore Baronets, but if you have removed similar content from other articles, I believe you should restore it. David Underdown (talk) 16:55, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- You fail to understand the great distinction I'm drawing between sites which have NO free source whatsoever, and those which do. References to the ODNB can be looked up freely in any library which has a copy. References to Stirnet cannot be looked up anywhere freely. Wjhonson (talk) 20:29, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Nino Tempo and April Stevens
A tag has been placed on Nino Tempo and April Stevens, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Misplaced Pages criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ford MF (talk) 23:18, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- Which would make sense if the article I tagged was actually a redirect. Ford MF (talk) 23:27, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- The Beatles analogy isn't really suitable here. In that case there is enough material--far more than enough--to justify separate articles for each entity, without creating unnecessary forks. The case of Nino and April? Not so much. cf. Jan and Dean Ford MF (talk) 23:34, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- That you haven't actually uploaded any of it? Ford MF (talk) 23:39, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- Also both of those articles are barely stubs in their own right. When comparable articles on comparable (or even more notable) acts are not split up in the same way, I believe the onus is on you to explain why there should be yet another article. The Beatles are an exception, not the rule. Ford MF (talk) 23:41, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Sanchez and the link to County Historian
Greetings. I'm an uninvolved administrator here. I removed the paragraph on Talk:Matt Sanchez that included a link to the article on your website. I have no opinion on Mr. Sanchez, or on the accuracy or appropriateness of your site -- I'm only interested in applying the difficult and important BLP standards. Your article seems to violate privacy and host speculative defamation, so we can't include links to it on Misplaced Pages. If you re-add a link to this article, you can be blocked for disruption. Nothing personal, – Quadell 18:40, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
