IAR
You're right, it's a bear of a question :) I wouldn't normally ask it, but in Remember the dot's last RFA, that exact same question was asked, and the response wasn't satisfactory to me (something RtD mentioned in Question 4). Really, I think all admins should try to gain a basic understanding of IAR, though -- Misplaced Pages becomes more and more bureaucratic as time goes on. Ral315 (talk) 06:57, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
RE: Misplaced Pages accounts
No, Misplaced Pages accounts aren't deleted because of copyrights and stuff like that. As for the userboxes, they can be found here. If you don't find what you need, let me know and I'll make it for you. Me and RC used to live in the same neighborhood in Dayton, Ohio. He's my best friend. Burner0718 23:24, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Slide Away
Hi there, I'm not sure about how you've done your move of Slide Away... It looks like you were trying to move the content from Slide Away (Verve song) to Slide Away which was fine, but you don't then need to nominate the original page for deletion. afds are generally used for controversial deletions, in future you may want to consider WP:prod or even WP:speedy deletions instead. In this case though, a redirect is probably best, as you don't then need to update every page that linked to the old page, it automatically takes people to the right one. Shout if you need a hand with anything by posting to my talk page. Paulbrock (talk) 21:36, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
re:warning vandals
Hey, the templates are found here. Now, for example, if you type(or copy and paste, which is what I do :)) this, {{subst:uw-vandalism1}}, you'll get this!
Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages, at least one of your recent edits did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
Now, if you do this for example, {{subst:uw-vandalism1|Tom Brady}}, you'll get this,
Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Tom Brady, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
Like I said above, you can find the library of warning templates here. Alot huh? Hope this helps. Burner0718 04:08, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'll start using those. I have a lot to learn about the various templates. Thanks Enigmaman (talk) 05:09, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Burner0718 05:15, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
adoption
Hey, uh, if you have over 1,000 edits, why are you adopted? RC-0722 /kills 15:41, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Because I never discovered adoption until I was well along. :) Enigmaman (talk) 16:54, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Neither did I. I would adopt a user but my block was last month and they like them to be at least six months old if you have one. RC-0722 /kills
- Who knows, maybe I'll adopt someone one day. It is possible to have a lot of experience with Misplaced Pages and not know the finer details of the policies, templates, procedures, etc. So then you can either read through all the material they have, or ask someone. :D Enigmaman (talk) 17:06, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

re:signature
Thanks, I've never had someone complement my signature before. Yeah, I've never heard of allstarecho, but I know nelson (unfortunately). I was blocked by his buddy (pats1) for having a shared account. It was quite a coincidence since a few days before I had a dispute with him over a rewrite of week 17 on the 2007 New England Patriots season. RC-0722 /kills 18:05, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
re:indenting
Umm, I just go as far as I can before unindenting. the indents help others follow conversation. Your example really isn't too long, although I wouldn't go much further. I've went a little further than that before. I'd say this should be the max:
- This is about as far as I'd go. Hope this helps. :) Burner0718 03:47, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi Enigma:
The short-lived user I was asking Jamie about was "Estonecipher666".
Turns out that was not even close to a record.

Please help with disruptive bot
This is extremely frustrating. The owner of the bot is refusing to address concerns about the bot's edits. There was a WP:AN complaint, but the bot was quickly unblocked and is rampaging again. I posted something there, but I'm out of options. I've tried discussing it on the bot's talk page, but that proved futile. Can you help? Enigma (talk) 01:49, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, there's not much I can do. You'd have to petition to relax the non-free content policy, which is a daunting task. We could, however, work around the problem by adding more preloaded templates to Misplaced Pages:Upload, like what is done with the "logo" option. That would at least prevent images uploaded in the future from being needlessly deleted, though all the template jargon would still be confusing to many. —Remember the dot 02:04, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- It's driving me crazy, and I'm not the only one. A ton of people have complained about it, but Betacommand refuses to do a damn thing. Also, if you see the talk page, there's someone there dismissing all of the concerns and then saying he can't do anything about it anyway. We have a disruptive bot, a disruptive bot owner, and a user trolling the bot's talk page. It's too much and I don't want to deal with it anymore. Enigma (talk) 02:11, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- One option would be to start a petition at Misplaced Pages:Village pump (proposals) asking people to sign their names if they want to see BetacommandBot turned off. That might work, though people would scream that polling is evil. —Remember the dot
- OK, I'll do it. Of course that makes me a target, but oh well. Enigma (talk) 02:17, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- I reverted your comment to save you from having to have it shot down. The second issue you brought up was already resolved, indeed, if Betacommand does that again then a developer has promised to personally block him. Also, you can't ask people to sign a petition and then say that you might change the petition's text later. Let's try to come up with a better way to approach this. —Remember the dot 02:25, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- For example, you could bring up that BetacommandBot works extremely fast and has no way to tell whether or not an image is worth keeping. Rather than helping to fix problems with fair use rationales, like Polbot does, BetacommandBot just tags images for deletion mindlessly. —Remember the dot 02:28, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Anyway, just give it some thought, and run your wording past me before you post it. —Remember the dot 02:30, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Im sorry but what am I ignoring? Most of what you brought up has been re-hashed 20 times in separate discussions. I just enforce policy. β 02:19, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- We're proposing a new guideline: "No enforcing WP:NFCC#10c by bot." —Remember the dot 02:20, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer
I'd actually like to say go ahead, but there are actually a couple of individuals who have my talk page on their watchlists who have been using my page as a reference for their efforts at rescuing images (they must be offline this week or something). Although I no longer support images on Misplaced Pages, I do support the Novels WikiProject and they like to have book covers. I also want to keep it up as an example. But if I can stop the bot from sending me any more, then I'll be happy, too. I have some method in my madness as I hope my request gets a lot of "me too" responses. If there's a bright side, it is my understanding that all "non-conforming" images are supposed to be deleted by the end of March (after which I guess the world blows up or something), so hopefully the flood will end. All this said, if there are any images cited on my page that you want to work on, please feel free!. Cheers! 23skidoo (talk) 03:50, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- I spotted Remember the Dot's guideline suggestion, above and have asked him for more detail. I don't think there's much can be done about Betacommandbot or the others (his isn't the only one, just the worst) before the end of March, but we can at least try and prevent this disruption from happening again in the future. 23skidoo (talk) 04:01, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

re: Shocking :-)
An anon with a big Wiki-heart. Misplaced Pages was built on the contributions of anonymous editors. I am just a little "busier" than others. After rejecting my old account(after rolling over 20000 edits with it)... I have dealt with all the positives(many Wiki friends) and all the negatives(anti-anon bias/prejudice) that being an anon can bring. I prefer the "purity" of anonymous editing and will never go back to my old account. Misplaced Pages is the encyclopedia that "anyone can edit". And I work hard everyday to prove that "an anyone" can do just that... and do it well. Cheers! and have a nice day! ! 156.34.142.110 (talk) 17:57, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
29 years.
No, not really a joke. I block blatant vandals for 29 years instead of indefinitely (technically a shorter period... and middle age usually fixes school vandals). This user in particular was vandalizing multiple pages (including a few that were deleted), so I blocked him for 29; if he wants to be unblocked, I have no problem with that as long as he decides to contribute constructively. · AndonicO 22:24, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
re:signatures & archives
You can get as creative as you want with your sig. Go to WP:Signatures for some guidelines. As for the archives, just create a subpage and cut-and-paste the finished sections to ,for example (you can really use this wikilinked page though... :-)), User talk:Enigmaman/Archive1, while leaving the still live conversations on your talk page. Then of course, wikilink the archive to your talk page. It's easier than using CluebotIII. If you need anything else, let me know. Burner0718 03:57, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know what ya mean about the vandals :D. I have your page watchlisted. I've been on a small wikibreak the past few days but I'm back to work now. lol. I honestly don't know how to make words diagonal either. My current sig uses this code with the raw signature box checked, ''']''' '']''. You can use this as an example.
