Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better organize information in articles related to porn stars/erotic actors. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.

Scope

The project aims to implement a consistent format for articles of pornographic actresses and models, as well as related infobox templates.

Additionally, the project is to implement a standard means of procuring information on pornographic actresses, as well as to address what is proper for an encyclopedic article on porn stars.

Structure

  1. Create a new page. (See m:Help:Starting a new page for details.)
  2. Create an outline for the biography article you started:
  3. Find a picture and upload. Image must be fair use or promotional in nature. Images should have a known source and the source should be credited on the "Image:" article page. See also: Misplaced Pages:Images, Misplaced Pages:Image use policy.
    • Also note that images should not be explicit in nature. Pictures with the genitals, bust, or buttocks of the person exposed should not be posted, nor should there be pictures posted of the person engaging in sex acts. Pictures should not include the person covered in any bodily fluids, including semen. The point of a picture is to show the person in a normal picture, appropriately clothed -- not to show how sexy a person is, as this is considered a violation of the neutral point of view that articles and their supporting media should take.
    Why is it considered NPOV violation? It would be like only allowing images of Chairman Mao showing him in a t-shirt and shorts. They are known BECAUSE they are "sexy", it would be violation of NPOV to depict them as everyday people. ~~~~ 20:38, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

Acceptable sources of fair use photos

  • DVD or video covers. Choose a cover that illustrates the actor or actress well and doesn't contain nudity (see #3 above). Label DVD covers with {{DVDcover}}
  • Book covers and magazine covers. Use {{bookcover}} and {{magazinecover}}
  • Screenshots. Label screenshots with {{screenshot}}
  • Promotional photos. Promotional photos are typically ones found on other websites that promote the person in question. Obviously, choose one that is appropriately clothed and note its source (i.e. provide the URL). Tag those photos with {{promophoto}}
  • {{CopyrightedFreeUse}} Tag used for an author to release their work into the public domain, disclaiming any copyright.
  • {{GFDL}} - GNU Free Documentation License
  • Fair Use, see Misplaced Pages:Image description page for rationale for fair use.

For additional tags not listed here, refer to Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags.

Hierarchy definition
