This is a list of characters seen in the American animated television series Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Humans

  • Mac — A bright 8-year old boy who lives with his mother and older brother Terrence. Mac almost always seems to know what to do when there is a problem. Even though Mac created Bloo, he is completely different to Bloo in almost all ways. For example, Bloo only cares for himself. However, in some episodes he shows affection for Mac and other friends, but this is short-lived. Mac cares for the other friends and tries to make them happy before his own happiness. It is shown in some episodes that he cares for Frankie in more than one way (he sometimes has a crush on Frankie). Mac also becomes extremely hyperactive if he gets a taste of sugar. He is voiced by Sean Marquette.
  • Frances "Frankie" Foster — Madame Foster's 22-year-old granddaughter. Frankie does almost every chore around the house and helps keep everything in order and, although Mr. Herriman's fixation with rules and cleanliness causes her tremendous stress, she is usually very friendly and easy-going. Mr. Herriman calls her Ms. Frances. She is voiced by Grey DeLisle.
  • Madame Foster — The founder of the Foster home, Madame Foster may be elderly, but she has a lot of spunk and loves to play tricks on others. Her imaginary friend is Mr. Herriman, whom she imagined when she was a child and never gave up. She is very strong for an old lady and is very adventurous. She is voiced by Candi Milo.
  • Goo Goo GaGa — Goo is a friend of Mac who named herself Goo Goo Ga Ga when she was a baby because that was all she knew how to say. Her nickname (just to make things simpler) is "Goo." Goo has an overeactive imagination and has imagined over 750 friends. She is extremely hyperactive and talks very fast. In the episode that she was first introduced, the friends in the house thought that she and Mac were in love. She is voiced by Grey DeLisle.
  • Terrence – Mac's 13-year-old brother. He enjoys constantly annoying Mac, and coming up with various schemes to make things hard for Mac and Bloo. He is voiced by Tara Strong.

Imaginary friends

  • Blooregard "Bloo" Q. Kazoo — Mac's original imaginary best friend and rival, Bloo is a narcissistic maniac Mac created when he was three. In "Frankie My Dear" it's revealed that he is five years old. Bloo is self-centred and selfish and loves breaking the rules and causing trouble. Once he had to think if he liked making people's life miserable when confronted by Mac. Bloo likes to take advantage of the friends at Foster's and is constantly working on his scamming and loves to eat. He insists that he is pure blue, even though technically, he is Cornflower Blue. Bloo thinks it's "The Law" that no one is allowed in the mall without cash. He also often gives himself chatacters from several movies and other shows such as bloonan the barbarian as a parody of conan the barbarian.
  • Mr. Herriman — Mr. Herriman is a giant rabbit imagined by Madame Foster herself. He is often seen wearing a tuxedo coat and a stovepipe hat, as well as a monocle over his left eye (though it periodically changes eyes, depending on which way he faces). He is in charge of the house.
  • Wilt — Wilt is a tall, red imaginary friend with a stubby left arm and a crooked left eyestalk. However, in "Good Wilt Hunting" it is discovered that he was not always this way. It shows how he injured them in a fateful accident thus crushing his arm and injuring his eye. His defining aspect is his sense of fair play and good sportsmanship, which he applies to every part of life he can. Wilt also is extremely courteous, to a fault (he's often willing to perform anything asked of him, even if he has to go entirely out of his way to do so) and apologizes almost constantly. His name is an homage to NBA star Wilt Chamberlain. Wilt was shown to be created by Jordan Michaels, a basketball star, a homage to Michael Jordan. He is voiced by Phil LaMarr.
  • Eduardo — Eduardo is an imaginary protector friend who occasionally uses Spanish words with awkward pronunciation. He has huge horns, purple hair, long fangs, skull buckle, grey pants and weighs more than 500 pounds. His creator, Nina Valerosa, is now a police officer on unpaid leave. Eduardo loves potatoes. Despite his large size and menacing look, Eduardo is quite docile and scared of most things. He is voiced by Tom Kenny.
  • Coco — Coco was created on a deserted island. She is a bird-airplane-palm tree friend who can only speak or write the word "coco" at various speeds and with different emphases, and can lay plastic eggs containing prizes. One way to understand her is to break down each "coco" into syllables and then apply them to the situation. She has the ability to swallow a vast majority of things (ranging from gold bars and money to animals such as puppies) whole, then lay plastic eggs that can contain the items. She is voiced by Candi Milo.
  • Cheese — A lactose intolerant pale-yellow friend who debuted in "Mac Daddy." Cheese was thought to be an imaginary friend created by Mac, but was actually created be his neighbor Louise, and gets out sometimes. Cheese appears to be somewhat madcap and dim-witted,(in other words he is terribly annoying bitch of an imaginary friend motherfucker that messess up every thing) often saying incoherent or non-sequitur phrases and breaking into sudden bouts of screaming, but he's really young, nice, sweet, cute and he has Louise's mind. Cheese likes to randomly mention chocolate milk and cereal, and enjoys getting into fights about cereal and potatoes with Eduardo. When given chocolate milk, he will generally refuse it, as he actually wants another beverage such as juice or a smoothie. He is voiced by Candi Milo.
  • Berry - Berry is a cute, short, yet mentally unstable imaginary friend who appeared in the episode Berry Scary. She was madly in love with Bloo to the point of a psychotic obsession. She is prone to small fits of insanity if anyone comes between her and Bloo. Despite meeting her before Bloo can't remember her name, such as calling her "Terrie", "Jerry", "Cherry", "Mary", "Carry", "Larry" and even "Heather". Whenever she has a psychotic meltdown the Psycho string music is played. Berry also tried to get rid of Mac in many ways so she could have Bloo all for herself. At the end of the episode Bloo and Mac strapped her to the world's largest rubber band, and on it she broke the record for "greatest distance travelled while strapped to the world's largest rubber band ball". Once she got untied from the rubber band she was strapped to, and she posed as a rich kid with many toys, and tied up the real family. At the end of this episode Bloo forgets who she is until Mac referred to her as "Heather".
  • Duchess — (voiced by Grey DeLisle), who looks like a cubist painting, is a "high-maintenance" friend, not wanting to do anything for herself, and is so lazy that she wants somebody to open her eyelids when she wakes up. After conspiring to get rid of Bloo, she was not kicked out of the house, but was forced to stay as punishment when she aches to leave.
  • Creaky Pete is one of the oldest friends who lives at the house. He has a body that is almost completely made from hair, has no legs, and sits in a rocking chair that creaks. He is voiced by Tom Kenny.
  • Jackie Khones is a small, green, one-eyed stick with a deep voice, provided by Phil LaMarr. He appears in various episodes usually to make quick humorous comments on current events in the episode or as a cameo in others. He is also a detective, with Fluffernutter as his secretary. He says he got into the detective business because of his missing deviled eggs. He can also be a little airheaded and and food distracts him.
  • Yogi Boo Boo is a swami type of friend, who is green with the neck of a giraffe, a bushy mustache and speaks with an East Indian accent. He appears in various episodes, most notably "Beat With a Schtick". He is voiced by Tom Kenny.
  • Peas is a puny imaginary friend and is a sort of pea who wears an old thimble hat. In "The Little Peas" he saves Frankie and the imaginary friends from being humiliated on the news(this episode shows what Peas did in the episode "The Big Cheese".) Nobody knows him except Frankie because he's so small, similar to Horton Hears A Who.
  • Fluffernutter is a pink squirrel imaginary friend. In the episode "The Little Peas", it is shown that she is in love with Jackie Khones. She is voiced by Grey DeLisle.
  • Noteworth "Notey" Bookingham is the player's personal assistant in the online game Big Fat Awesome House Party. He appears at the beginning of the game to narrate the tutorial.
