However I hope you agree that in the long run it isn't in the interests of Misplaced Pages for us to get into a destructive and acrimonious electioneering war--we might win votes from people who have strong opinions but I suspect that both sides would be seen as behaving badly by many ordinary Misplaced Pages editors. Also if this continued and both sides refused to back down I would take both to RfC over electioneering.

Hi, Yuckfoo. Just a friendly mention that there is no need to change British spellings to American spellings. Both are acceptable, and some people get upset if you change their perfectly valid spellings.

Also, please use the edit summary box below the edit box. It's considered a courtesy, even though you'll find that some administrators don't use it. The edit summary helps people see what you're doing without having to open every link, it can help prevent tension if someone doesn't know why you've made an edit, and it really helps for people on dialup. Have a look at my "user contributions" for an example... but you certainly don't have to be as obsessive or wordy about it as I've been.
