I am interested in why you want further clarification on his banning. If, like me, you feel that this ban was excessive, you may be interested in his profiling on "Wikisposure.com" under "Misplaced Pages Campaign". At this location, he is defamed along with myself, as a pedophile. ] (]) 19:04, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Revision as of 19:04, 26 April 2008

Bikasuishin is away on vacation and may not respond swiftly to queries.
To keep conversations together, I will generally reply on this page to messages left here. If you would prefer that I reply on your talkpage or elsewhere, please feel free to let me know.

Hi - the {{spa}} tag is purely informational for the closing admin, and nothing else. It doesn't mean "ignore this editor's remark" (unless they're an obvious sockpuppet, of course). BLACKKITE 14:26, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough. Bikasuishin (talk) 14:30, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi Bika!

Since I've found you in the recent AfD on Adult-child sex not too opposed to the general idea to strengthen our encyclopedia with reliable, comprehensive, substantial, and essential material also on unpopular topics, and since you obviously have a basic grasp of German, I've been meaning to ask about your support.

A thought I've been harboring lately is putting up an essay within my userspace on the main source for my draft (which is Bleibtreu-Ehrenberg 1985/88) to one day maybe be moved to Misplaced Pages, WikiBooks, or WikiEssays. I'd once put this up on the German Misplaced Pages as an article and it held up for half a year, from May 2006 until January 2007, until someone on a personal revenge crusade removed it by means of an AfD (where votes were split 50:50 and of course most wanting to get it deleted did nothing more than point to their severe disgust, although that AfD actually lasted for 2 months before it was closed). This essay of mine was actually so influential that I found literal quotes lifted from it in a nation-wide newspaper endorsing them, that literal quotes were endorsed by a German General Medical Council, and just the same with an official brochure issued by an Austrian government department, I found my very own words in all those cases. Googling for it, I found that a number of people had saved personal backups of the article in various places on the web, and there also were several forums debating its content while linking to my article on Misplaced Pages.

So, I've been meaning to ask you if you'd be willing to have a look at my German essay after I'll have put it up in my userspace here on the English Misplaced Pages and tell me whether you think it's a good idea for me to translate it to English and for the time being leaving it as the draft of an English Misplaced Pages article in my userspace to one day maybe be moved to Misplaced Pages, WikiBooks, or WikiEssays. The basic idea of this essay of mine is a Misplaced Pages article on an existing work (Bleibtreu-Ehrenberg 1985/88), comparable to articles such as Civilization and Its Discontents and Dialectic of Enlightenment. --TlatoSMD (talk) 04:46, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I'd be pleased to read it. I must insist however that my grasp of German is indeed basic, and may not be sufficient to fully appreciate your essay. The only serious academic works I have read in German thus far were in my own area of expertise (mathematics) and not very discursive in nature. Bikasuishin (talk) 12:40, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your cooperation. The article can now be found here. Please let me know what you think! --TlatoSMD (talk) 19:34, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
That's very interesting, thank you--although, as I suspected, my linguistic abilities aren't up to par, even with a dictionary open on my lap. I could at least get the gist of your essay, and it certainly makes me hope to see it translated in English, and to read one of the English translations of Dr. Bleibtreu-Ehrenberg's work. My former institution's library carries Tabu Homosexualität but none of the books or periodicals that you list in Veröffentlichungsgeschichte. I'll try to get my hands on the Geraci book.
Concerning the inclusion of this article in the English Misplaced Pages, I'm sure it would be a great contribution, but one that is bound to be met with the same kind of hostility that you encountered on de:, possibly only more bitter and obnoxious. For that reason, I suggest that you prepare for possible cases for deletion that could be put forward against it (as I'm sure you were going to do anyway). I can think of the following points:
  • Notability. That's probably the first argument that will be presented. It would be useful if you could describe the influence of this particular work of Bleibtreu-Ehrenberg on subsequent research, as well as possible quotes in more mainstream media (incl. maybe those quotes that your de: article prompted?).
  • Original Research. The article is copiously referenced, but I can see editors putting {{fact}} tags all over the place nonetheless. It might be a good idea to put page references to one version of the article for each paragraph. That's something I'm willing to help with when I find the Geraci book.
  • Original Research (reprise). My command of the German language is inadequate to properly appreciate the style of your article, but it seemed to me to deviate in a few places from rigorously factual description of the book's content, and stray into what could pass off as interpretation. I think that's more of a stylistic issue than an actual concern with the content of your article: perhaps the tone could use some wikifying (in order to sound less essay-ish, so to speak).
Is there anything else I could help with?
As an aside, I noticed that you added me to your list of great wikipedians. That's very nice of you, but I really don't think my edit history warrants this; I hope to become an editor worthy of such praise in the distant future. Bikasuishin (talk) 20:21, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Responding to your concerns, I've now added a section entitled Einfluß und Bedeutung towards the end regarding the work's influence and significance.
It's a very good idea to get your hands on Tabu Homosexualität first to make Der pädophile Impuls intellectually accessible to you, as already the second footnote of Der pädophile Impuls strongly urges that one needs to occupy and familiarize oneself with that particular earlier work by her first where she had had more space available. Another good read to make Der pädophile Impuls accessible would be her 1989 book Angst und Vorurteil - AIDS-Ängste als Gegenstand der Vorurteilsforschung on general prejudice studies, and in particular prejudice studies especially regarding factually or labelled sexual "minorities" and sexual "deviances".
Be forewarned though when tackling Kennedy's English translation of Der pädophile Impuls that was published in Paidika and in Geraci 1997, I find lots of it poorly translated, partly by being too literal, partly by dumbing it down to triviality, also by replacing sophisticated and precise scientific terms with dumbed down everyday slang. For instance, what she refers to as traditional Western Leibfeindlichkeit is most likely not to be translated as "hatred of the body" as Kennedy does, but rather as "(ascetic) repression of sensuality", and what's Pseudo-Pädophilie in German is actually the native German word for "situational AoC offence" or "secondary interest in pre-adolescents" rather than Kennedy's obscure "pseudo-pedophilia". A third example would be his translation of Bleibtreu-Ehrenberg's calling her theory a heuristic hypothesis which Kennedy dumbs down to "topic for debate". Same goes for many other standing expressions and figures of speech, and even includes the grammar Kennedy uses in his translation.
Bika, the reason I've added you to my list is that in all your posts on this controversial topic so far, you've made it to stay completely rational and civil, something that unfortunately so many others entirely failed on from their very first posts on. ;) --TlatoSMD (talk) 04:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Kodomo anime and manga

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Kodomo anime and manga, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Kodomo anime and manga. Some Bikabot pages

Why is Bikabot creating user-related pages which copy-paste content from anime articles? Example, see User:Bikabot/Dragon Ball Z (I actually removed the FU pics and article categories from this one) and User:Bikabot/Cowboy Bebop. Please reply below, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 06:25, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

It was a way to test it while not touching mainspace at all, before permission was granted to do a trial run. I'll have all of those pages deleted under CSD U1. Sorry for the temporary breach of WP:NFC. Bikasuishin (talk) 11:47, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
That's fine. Did you make sure to get all the others? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 17:57, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I checked through the bot's edit history to delete the few pages that I'd missed last week. Thanks for the heads up. Bikasuishin (talk) 19:01, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Bot bug

On Baccano! it removed the demographic from the light novel field, and stuck it in the manga field...which already had one. Doceirias (talk) 03:38, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
