Who's handling MG now?

After PMDrive's retirement, I've noticed that nobody else has decided to take his place to remove MG. I feel that unless someone is keeping a close eye on him, he'll just end up spawning more account hives and still performing edits when he shouldn't be. Any info on this? treelo radda 10:15, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Nobody was handling MG, per se, though PMDrive was certainly good at finding him. Other admins have blocked MG sockpuppets in the past. If you find some that need blocking, feel free to drop me a line and I'll block them. I've added his page to my watch list, but I don't monitor his usual targets, so I'm not likely to find his new accounts. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:33, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
That's what I mean, he was pretty much the sole person trying to remove him for good even though nobody wants to take action as he's not a Grawp level of vandal. You can't simply keep playing Whack-A-Mole with his sockpuppets each time one pops up and I also reckon keeping a well updated list of his most recent accounts is good either, even he edits it! No, something does need to be done because regardless of if he's being malicious or even editing in good faith, he remains an issue and I'd like to see if those who have dealt with MG in the past can make some form of coordinated effort to get this guy community blocked. I know PMDrive tried very hard, even asking Jimbo and others higher up the food chain than the local admins here for some action and nothing has happened and makes a mockery of the anti-vandal system. treelo radda 10:22, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
He's already been community banned, so it already is block on sight. Apparently whatever ISP he uses has a large IP pool and too many other active or potentially active editors to make a range block worthwhile without collateral damage. Unfortunately, beyond that, there isn't much more admins can do about that. Going to the Foundation, I would imagine he isn't a high priority compared to other more prolific and destructive vandals like Grawp. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:40, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Interesting, didn't know most of this before, RBI is the only thing available then? They are right, he's no Grawp and is merely an irritant to those who know his past behaviour but I'm thinking of a few other vandals similar to MG in having a large IP pool from which to vandalise and nothing can be done about them either. Hm, I'll keep the list upto date (which I reckon MG keeps as a nice trophy) but I only ever spot him when he strays into my watched articles so you might miss a few. treelo radda 09:27, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Yes, RBI is pretty much the only thing that can be done. I don't think he is actually the atypical trophy type of vandal even if he maintains his own list of accounts and will correct sockpuppetry tags. He's an unusual type of vandal and doesn't really seem to be in it for the "glory" like Grawp or others. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:54, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
So, if he's not out for glory or soapboxing then what's driving him? The fact he can't be stopped? I prefer the more typical vandals, at least they're easy to figure out. treelo radda 11:39, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
A few years ago (yup, that long), an editor made contact with MG's mother. The mother said that he was autistic. It's in the LTA page. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 15:53, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/CloseAFD.js

Hello, thanks for your work on Misplaced Pages:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/CloseAFD.js. Can there be an option made so that "non-admin closure" could be an option inserted into the end of the edit summary? Cirt (talk) 23:20, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

  1. It works great! Could you just make it wikilink "non-admin closure" to Misplaced Pages:Non-admin closure? Thanks, Cirt (talk) 00:06, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
  2. Oh, also it only needs to say "non-admin closure" in the edit summary. Per WP:NAC it is not necessary to say that at the top of the closed AFD. Cirt (talk) 00:09, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
  3. Sorry, one more thing, but is Template:Oldafdfull normally substed on talkpages? I will default to your preference on that one. Cirt (talk) 00:14, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

David Lynch external link

There appears to be no outside biography of David Lynch at the external links' listing. Therefore, we feel it is appropriate to add at least one such site. This is the only non-profit site hosting David Lynch biography which we could find by a quick search. We added a note about this also to the discussion page of the David Lynch article. We'll go ahead and undo the revert of the robot. Thank you.

I need your help

Hello Gogo,
Can you please take a look at the past couple of Ip blocks by administrator Kaihsu (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) and see whether theres anything sticking out in the contribs to warrant an automatic one year block which he was been handing out to some of them? I left a note on his talk page a couple of days ago but he has not replied as of yet, he has continued to edit though and i was just curious thats all. For all the Ips it was their first block, they hardly received any warnings if at all and this one he blocked indefinitely. I was always under the impression that IPs aren't indef except in extreme circumstances. Hopefully you can put my mind at ease. Appreciate it Monster Under Your Bed 03:01, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

FWIW Kaihsu has now replied stating .." I will keep away from blocking until I am sure that I have a better understanding of the policy" Well, at least now he knows. Monster Under Your Bed 03:17, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

I would also like you to protect it for me. I started it yesterday but trying to make the infobox took up all my time and it was deleted because I ended up not having much infomation on the page. Because you are an adminastator you can protect it for me can't you???

The page is about the oval in Lapstone,New South Wales.

Thanks for every thing

I would say that there isn't that much material to review, but I would really like the opinion of an uninvolved admin, as the way things are heading, most of the reviewing arbitrators are assuming bad faith in the case of the topic banned editor, calling him obsessive when it has been continuously made clear that he is not. I honestly want them to really review the material again before sticking with their votes.— dαlus /Improve 05:45, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Sarah Palin wheel war case request for evidence

Copying this to all admins who applied or extended protection on the Sarah Palin article.

To date there's been plenty of evidence pointing to discussions and otherwise offering commentary on the admin actions taken, but there's been little covering the circumstances prior to admin actions, namely the edits that the admins concerned based protection on. Newyorkbrad has put a question to the parties on this basis, but it seems to be only non-parties that have noticed that so far, so I'm putting this question to those involved directly.

Rootology has made a start here, and GRBerry has started drafting in his userspace. Ye might like to assist them in their efforts, or add a section of your own. This evidence will be vital in assisting the Committee's understanding of not only what happened and when, but why it happened. --bainer (talk) 14:01, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Martial Arts Academy

Hi Gogo Dodo,

I'm writing with regards to the Oxford Martial Arts Academy. I think OMAA is significant in the following ways: - this is the first academy in Oxford offering a variety of martial arts training - OMAA has the ONLY professional ring in Oxford. I've been there myself and the ring is really something that Oxford needs. - OMAA's instructors have international standing - see Des Brackett and Luciano Pereira. - OMAA works closely with the community (Oxford Council and the Youth Justice Board, of which I am a member)to try to get kids off the streets and therefore reduce crime rates in Oxford - OMAA can best be described as a social enterprise, and this is the first time (to my knowledge; and I've been working in the industry for a very long time) that a martial arts academy concentrates alot of time and effort in community work. I do, however, really think you should keep the page up and not delete it.

Many thanks Gogo,

Adrian Schmidt —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oxfordcommunitycentre (talkcontribs) 16:11, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
