Hi, I've noticed your edit on Chin-Feng Chen, I welcome you to join the Taiwanese baseball task force!--Jerry 21:09, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Baseball year
From now on, please use 2008 instead of 2008. Thanks. --Street20 (talk) 03:11, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Edmonton Trappers
I'm bringing to your attention that I've added Category:Edmonton Trappers players. The Edmonton Trappers are a defunct Triple-A team but I think that a category for it is okay. So if you see any players that played for the Trappers, just add them. --Street20 (talk) 00:25, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Lehigh Valley IronPigs
Just giving you a heads up, I created the category for them and I already added Steve Kline. --Street20 (talk) 04:06, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Sean DePaula
I'm not sure why you moved this player to Sean Depaula with a lower case "p", but he has always gone with an upper case "P" in his name. The official MLB site lists him as DePaula as do all his baseball cards. See for example: which has a facsimilie of his actual autograph where he himself capitalizes both the D and P in his last name. See also this Fleer card: Kinston eagle (talk) 03:51, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, baseball-reference.com had him listed as Depaula and I assumed that was the correct spelling. Jackal4 (talk) 21:01, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
References
Thank you for actually attempting to add references to articles!!! It is very good to see. There is a catch, however. Whan dding references, add <ref> before the site and </ref> after the site. This makes the references go the the bottom of the page (for example, see Border Legion (Shannara). Also, when citeing websites, use the {{cite web}} template. Alright? Any questions, just ask me! the_ed17 23:15, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Also, try to remember to use edit summaries...when people are looking for vandalism, it is much easier to read an edit summary than to compare the differences between the old and new versions... Thanks again. the_ed17 01:09, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Please use edit summaries more often
Hi there. When editing an article on Misplaced Pages there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.

Win-Loss record
can you please not remove the "record" part in the Win-Loss record of the infoboxes, thanks.--Yankees10 00:45, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
- They both should be Win-Loss record--Yankees10 15:37, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Category removal
Hello there. Why are you removing Category:Lakeland Flying Tigers players from articles like Eddie Bonine and Mike Maroth? --Mackensen (talk) 14:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- The Lakeland Flying Tigers have only been in existence since 2007, before that they were the Lakeland Tigers. A new category should be created for Lakeland Tigers players. Jackal4 (talk) 14:47, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Gotcha; fair enough. I'll create the new category and re-populate as appropriate. Mackensen (talk) 15:15, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

The Baseball WikiProject Newsletter Issue I – July 2008 | |

Baseball has a history unlike any other sport. It has been played in countless countries throughout the decades, and it will undoubtedly continue play for many more. On this eve, some the finest players the sport has to offer will take the field at the Yankee Stadium. Four popes spoke there, Pelé scored goals there, "The Greatest Game Ever Played" was battled out there, John Philip Sousa lead a band there, George Costanza worked there; but what do all these events have in common? They fail to reach the level of greatness that the baseball that was played there did. In 1923, a man named Babe Ruth decided to build a new house, and over the years, that house was a home to some of the greatest baseball ever played. If I were to list out all of these great moments, it would be longer than the bill for the New Yankee Stadium. So I'll sum it up by saying that we can remember these great moments by adding them to this place we've gathered at for future generations to read about, to learn about, to dream about; but more importantly we can watch tonight and we can remember how baseball is unlike anything else that we will encounter in our lives. — Blackngold29 |

Tommy Watkins
I'd changed Tommy Watkins' entry to show his current status as a player with the Rochester Red Wings. You switched it back to Minnesota Twins. Why?
That's how it is done. Since he has played in the majors for the Twins it should be Twins. It should just be mentioned in the article that he plays in the minor leagues for the Red Wings now. Jackal4 (talk) 04:02, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
DEFAULTSORT
Heya... I've noticed that you're starting to frequently make a common mistake with the key values of the DEFAULTSORT template; you're "fixing" names by replacing unaccented characters with accented ones when the article name has accents. Sadly, this causes names to appear in the wrong place in category lists.
For example, if you use "Peña" in a DEFAULTSORT and both a "Pew" and the "Peña" article have the same category, then the "Peña" article would came after the "Pew" article in the category list, which is wrong in English-language publications; to fix this, we strip the accents from accented characters.
Or look at this living people from Gonzalez, A. You'll see that names with and without accents are intermingled, sorted the same way they would be if there were no accents. The ONLY way to accomplish that is to remove accents in the DEFAULTSORT key (take a look at any of those articles - no accents in the DEFAULTSORT!!); otherwise, we end up with accented names all coming long after the unaccented names, and with "Gonzalo" and "Gonzi" in between too!!
Stripping the accents is a workaround for a software bug; it's also Misplaced Pages policy, see WP:Categorization_of_people#Ordering_names_in_a_category. Studerby (talk) 04:06, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
{{BD}}
Why are you removing this template from baseball player articles? The template is designed to replace {{:DEFAULTSORT}} and the "xxxx births" & "xxxx deaths" categories. Please use more caution when editing and/or replacing templates in the future. caknuck ° is not used to being the voice of reason 17:37, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Jon Niese
Re your message: I am a bit leery in making the move as the last edit summary on Jonathon Niese was "better known by this name". The MOS for baseball player names says to use the "commonly went by" name and it is unclear to me what he commonly is going by. Can you get a consensus on the correct name at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Baseball or the talk page of his article and then make the move request (if necessary) at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves? Thanks. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:47, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Re: Infoboxes
Will do on adding the NPB link for the Japanese teams. I've seen that on a few pages, and it does make sense.
As for dates, I was using Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)/Date autoformatting as a guide. Since the dates really don't mean anything in context, there's no need to link them. -Dewelar (talk) 23:03, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
