Ali ibn Abi Talib was one of the first caliphs of Islam. He was a nephew of the Muslim prophet Muhammad, as well as Muhammad's son-in-law. He had several children by Fatima Zahra, Muhammad's daughter, as well as children by other wives. His descendents through Fatima are still revered today, as imams, sharifs and sayyids / Syed's.
By Fatima he had the sons:
- Hassan
- Hussein > Martyred at the Battle of Karbala
- Al Muhsin > Died before his birth (click on Muhsin for more detail).
