BorgQueen is taking a short wikibreak and will be back on Misplaced Pages soon.

Welcome to the discussion page. --BorgQueen

DYKBot

Hi BorgQueen. Would you please look over the posts at User talk:DYKBot. I emailed Ameliorate! about them, but thought that you should be aware as well. Thanks. -- Suntag 07:35, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

It happens when the credit section is not properly formatted, i.e. If the same editor has written/nominated multiple articles we have to add different amounts of spaces after the username for the additional articles, as instructed here. The number of the additional spaces must match the number of the additional articles, otherwise the bot will overwrite a previous credit notice. --BorgQueen (talk) 09:03, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Lexus DYK

I added the nomination for "Ball Bearing (Lexus)" and it appeared on the Main Page, but the article talk page and I did not receive DYK credits. Balance (Lexus) appeared on the Main Page, but Talk:Balance (Lexus) was not DYK tagged, either. The two article talk pages should be DYK tagged, Octave8 needs DYK creator credit for Ball Bearing (Lexus) and Balance (Lexus), I believe I should receive DYK nominator credit for Ball Bearing (Lexus), and Hassocks5489 should receive nominator credit for Balance (Lexus). Would you take a look at this? Thanks. -- Suntag 08:04, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

FYI, Octave8 duly received the credit notices from the bot, so did Hassocks5489. You and the article talk pages were the only ones left. --BorgQueen (talk) 08:51, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

DYK:Khedive Palace

DYK:Malta Pavilion

Hi again BorgQueen! I appreciate indeed very much your contributions. Cheers. CeeGee (talk) 19:37, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Happy Holidays!

Mifter (talk) is wishing you a Merry Christmas! This greeting (and season) promotes WikiLove and hopefully this note has made your day a little better. Spread the WikiLove by wishing another user a Merry Christmas, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Don't eat yellow snow!

Spread the holiday cheer by adding {{subst:User:Flaming/MC2008}} to their talk page with a friendly message.

Happy Holidays :)! All the Best :), --Mifter (talk) 00:34, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey, sorry the revert on Template talk:Did you know. Made in haste. anamexis (talk) 00:49, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Stat update

When can I check stats for Rod Blagojevich federal fraud cases.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 04:28, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

I am not the one who maintains the traffic site. You will have to ask User:Henrik. --BorgQueen (talk) 13:18, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't expecting much more than 10-15 with the Blago pic.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 04:37, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

DYK Update

When I did the update a while back I took entries from the top date in expiring noms as you suggested, but now my own article was on the list it, and several others, didn't get picked all throughout December 16 (the last official day) in favor of newer articles. Was it because it wasn't officially confirmed? I know it shouldn't matter much, but I do want to take a stab at a reasonable DYK creation record for myself and it won't work if my creations aren't selected.- Mgm| 05:57, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Your hook will be selected as long as it satisfies the requirements; it is just a matter of time. I don't regularly review entries, but I am sure one of the regular reviewers will soon take care of it. --BorgQueen (talk) 13:14, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Queue 5 hook

Err, I was so happy that the hook for Kainourgia Ego would be on dyk the day it was released, but it seems that overnight it has been pushed back to Dec 22. So could you just take the "released today" part out? Thanks. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 14:36, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Can you change "one" to "release" too please :) Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 15:00, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Combined hooks

Looks fine to me, as long as everyone is ok with that. --IvoShandor (talk) 16:25, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

DYK Best

But they were enlisted with images in the section above. Only lead entries have images right?????????? --Redtigerxyz 16:44, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

OOOOOO. my mistake. Sorry. But shouldn't the hooks be as they were with/without images - thus dignifying them as lead or non-lead --Redtigerxyz 16:48, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't that be noted that the image does not mean a lead image, there be some column in table to distinguish leads and non-leads. That's an important fact to judge how good a DYK was - thus proving a guide for further ones. Absolutely, images (leads) play a big part in those hits. --Redtigerxyz 16:57, 18 December 2008 (UTC) OOOOOOO thats right :) --Redtigerxyz 17:02, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Apologies

For the badly worded hook I added, that you had to fix. I don't know what I was thinking. \ / ( | ) 06:45, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Updated DYK template

Hi, I'd just like to let you know what the template {{DYKsug}} was just updated with a new feature: now, for all DYK nominations that include only one article, it auto-generates the credit templates ({{DYKmake}} and {{DYKnom}}), which the person moving the hook to Next may simply cut and past from T:TDYK directly into next. This only happens with single-article nominations; if the nomination has more than one article, there will be a message in the template saying "Credits must be done manually by the person moving this nomination to Next" or something like that. It will probably be a few days before you start seeing the auto-generated credit templates, since the template was only just updated and only the new nominations will reflect it; the first several times you see auto-generated credit templates, you may want to double-check the nom as you are promoting it, just to make sure the credits are correct.

There have been some other minor changes—mainly, now if a DYK nominator lists himself as both "creator/expander" and "nominator," the "nominator" field ends up blank (so that what gets displayed is "Created by User, self nom" rather than "[[Created by User, nominated by User." Also, the fields, |collaborator=, |collaborator2=, and |collaborator3= have been replaced with the more intuitive |creator2=, |creator3=, and |creator4=.

Please let me know if you experience any problems with the new template. —Politizer /contribs 15:30, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

DYK Queue 1: Chanda Kochhar

The hook is "... that according to Fortune, Chanda Kochhar, soon to be CEO of India's largest private bank, is the 25th most powerful woman in business?" The article was nominated in the morning with the bank's name. Please link India's largest private bank to ICICI Bank or add the bank's name. Just "India's largest private bank" is too vague and results in the question which one?? Thanks. --Redtigerxyz 16:08, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick action. --Redtigerxyz 16:18, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Flooding on ITN

Thanks for the update but I think an ITN entry cannot start with numerics, no? --BorgQueen (talk) 16:01, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the delayed response, BorgQueen. Real life got in the way.... I've re-written that line on ITN. Hope it's better now. Thanks for the note. Cheers! --PFHLai (talk) 21:17, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

eden ahbez

Question: Is it possible to move this article to the proper title? Currently, if you click on eden ahbez, for example, in the article about the song "Nature Boy," you are taken to eden Ahbez, which is a redirect from Eden ahbez. This is not correct. The name should be spelt with no capital letters. There is also Eden Ahbez, which should redirect to the proper name. How do we sort this out? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 04:27, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

DYK

Just wanted to say thanks for notifying me about the DYKs - and thanks for all the work on DYK you do in general. --Josh Atkins 12:55, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the notification.--Parkwells (talk) 15:02, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

RE:Greek montage

Thanks a ton! :) I've also been meaning to compliment you on your absolutely fantastic ITN/DYK work. Good stuff! Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 21:45, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Toa Payoh ritual murders

Sorry about the mistake on Toa Payoh. All of the DYKs in that set had a small 2nd day bump on DYK, which led me to think that the group must have spilled over. It is good to have the data back. Cbl62 (talk) 23:05, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

DYK thanks

Thank you for Philip DYK... ;) --➨Candlewicke 04:37, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Barack Obama 2009 presidential inauguration

Someone added my Barack Obama 2009 presidential inauguration article that was created on the 19th to the next queue on the 20th. I was hoping to have 3 or 4 more days to clean this up for the main page. Can someone slide it back to the talk page?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:47, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Done. --BorgQueen (talk) 06:56, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

DYK:Matthias Dolderer

Hi! Thanks so much for the surprise. Cheers. CeeGee (talk) 09:12, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Italicization at T:TDYK

Hi BorgQueen, I left a response to your comments here. "Suanmeitang" is not a brand name, but just the description/name of the drink (like "orange juice"), so I'm not sure if it should be italicized or not. What do you think? —Politizer /contribs 15:22, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I've asked an expert to comment. --BorgQueen (talk) 15:27, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Suicide bag DYK nomination

Hello, could you possibly take a look at Template_talk:Did_you_know#Suicide_bag? Your input would be appreciated. – RyanCross (talk) 09:02, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Accolades

Appreciate the 9 accolades for today's DYK. However, for what-ever-reason you doubled up on the credits and gave them to me twice. Very busy schedule, I would guess. I believe the 9-article hook is now a record that I broke from the previous 8-article hook done by User:Gatoclass. --Doug Coldwell 13:17, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

You mean the bot did. Are you aware it is an automated process? Please don't say I doubled them up manually. --BorgQueen (talk) 22:33, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
I realize that now and apologize for the mistake. Since then I sent a message to User talk:Ameliorate! who runs the BOT or a similar BOT and the BOT missed the banner credit for two of the articles. BTW, the doubling credit has been corrected. They couldn't get me to do the job you are doing at Misplaced Pages - as it is, they are not paying me enough to write up these articles. FYI, I received an accolade for writing up the article accolade. --Doug Coldwell 23:17, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
